“gunther, have you ever thought that maybe everyone else on this bus is also wearing underwear? maybe they can relate.” she suggested, holding back laughter. “i guess i don’t think much of those sorts of stuff. i was raised by just my father during my formative years, maybe that’s why.” she pondered.
“well if a whole bus of strangers can relate then i think you’d be wrong about it being underrated.” her statements always tended to earn a shake of the head from gunther. "formative years?” the phrase caused him to smile. “your dad’s a lot nicer than you, though,” he teased.
“Do you have a penny?” Warren asked the person beside him, having dug his hands in his pockets to see if he had the copper coin he was after, but all he had was a stupid dollar bill. “I am going to blow your mind.”
Gunther’s brows furrowed at his request but reached for his wallet nonetheless. "Yeah yeah, hold on.” Curiosity filled his mind as he pulled out the coin and handed it to the guy, though he half expected it to be some homespun magic trick.
“don’t look so nervous, it’s not like i’m going to show you my underwear or anything.” she snickered, at her friend. “that’s what i’m talking about, homeslice. those perfectly stretched out underwear that are just perfect.” corinne assured him.
“it’s not that,” he said, making a face at her. “it’s just, we’re talking about underwear... on a public bus. people might think we’re weird.” but gunther couldn’t stop a chuckle from escaping as she went on. “you’re the only person i know that says those kinds of things.”
“do you know who you’re talking to?” he shakes his head, moving over just a bit. “sit.”
quickly obeying his command, gunther took a seat a few inches away. “it’s for this girl’s surprise 16th birthday party.” he then awkwardly added, “she’s my neighbor.”
eva had kept an eye on the other kid for a while. she noticed his struggle after periodically peering over her own book, a grin on her face and soft chuckles escaping her. after the light thump of novels hitting the floor, she wheeled her way over to the pile and picked up the ones closest to her feet. ‘ clumsy, huh ?? ’ she asked, stuffing the ones in her hands between the thin books at her eye level. ‘ i think i’d be the same if it wasn’t for this old thing. ’
he hadn’t expected to hear the voice that he did, but a part of him also knew. who else would’ve calmly came to his rescue in a place like this? gunther was silent for a moment, taking in her presence. he couldn’t recall the last time he’d seen her. the thought saddened him. a smile tugged at the corner of his lips, appreciative of her comforting words. “that’s a lie. you played sports.” he huffed out a small chuckle and knelt beside her to pick up the remainder of the books. “i’ve never been well coordinated in anything, really.”
clapping her hands together in a slow, sarcastic fashion, sutton walked towards the boy and the array of his destruction evident on the ground. “congrats, you’ve managed to destroy half an aisle just for something the employee right there could’ve reached.” gesturing towards the glaring kid in blue, she grinned at the sight.
gunther looked around again, fearing her actions would draw more attention. the female’s sarcasm caused him to feel worse than he already did, but maybe he deserved it. she was right, after all. he could’ve just asked someone for help. “sorry,” he said aloud, shooting the worker an apologetic look. too embarrassed to address the girl, his regretful eyes avoided the her as he knelt over to pick up the fallen items.
THEN there was Chloe who not only noticed but pushed off the wall she had been leaning against to confront the person that seemed to be around her own age. ‘ WHAT’cha got there, newb ? ‘
“Oh--me? Oh--this?” He stumbled over his words, a nervous smile forming on his features. “It’s just, uh...” Gunther lifted the box of Strawberries & Cream oatmeal, showing it to the girl. It was the last of its kind on the shelf. “My grandparents’ favorite.”
It took him a long hour before he’d found what he was looking for. And while he felt a fleeting sense of accomplishment, it seemed the item was perched on a shelf that he found a bit out of reach. Not wanting to inconvenience---or rather, have to interact with---anyone, he chose to jump to attain the object. Pushing off of his feet, he swiftly swiped the object, while accidentally knocking over several others. With panic in his eyes, he whipped his head in both directions, hoping no one saw or heard what just happened.
“you know what’s highly underrated. a good pair of underwear.” she said out of nowhere, as she scrolled through her phone. glacing from her phone to the bus window then finally her eyes settled on the person next to her, as if she was waiting for their opinion (not that she even cared).
the random statement caused gunther to raise a brow and he quickly grew nervous, unsure if he should respond to it. “i, uh... yeah? i mean, i guess you could say that,” he responded, a confused smile on his lips. “i like when i find a pair that fits just right and lasts for a long time.”
His head shot up from his laptop and he hadn’t fully registering her request until he saw her gesturing toward the assortment of books near him.“Oh--yeah.” Taking the closest one, he handed her Eat, Pray, Love.
hello all! it’s terra (19, mst, she/her) and i’ve brought gunther here into this lovely rp. under the read more is some info about him, but i lovelovelove chemistry so don’t be afraid to assume connections when we thread! also, feel free to message me to plot :)
(tw death mention)
gunther is currently 19 and is about to head into his second year of college as a literature major
both of his parents passed when he was around 8 years old, so he moved to live with his grandparents in arcadia bay and to this day, they baby him a lot
his label is the bibliophile and he developed his love for books from his mother. she would read to him every night when he was younger and after she passed, he believed reading, in a way, brought him closer to her
he would always stay in class during recess to read and as a result, became quite the recluse at school
with only one constant best friend in his whole life (possible connection ~eyebrow wiggle~) he fears that one day, he’ll be completely alone
shows he enjoys watching include stranger things, black mirror, and westworld
as far as his personality goes, gunther is a very polite, shy boy. an overanalytical nervous wreck when meeting new people, but super friendly and sweet
he’s the type to sugar coat things and is very wary of other people’s feelings
will do favors for strangers and does anything he can to help people, which makes him easy to take advantage of rip
at this point in his life, his main goal is to live a fun and fulfilling life (but it’s a work in progress because he’s pretty square and has difficulty coming out of his shell)
but that’s all for now! stay tuned as i continue to develop him more lol
