The monsters had plagued his dreams when he was younger. What would you expect from a monster who covered his face all the time? There had to have been a reason. Of course, he still looked back on it, but it was obviously just a guard blocking his way... though, he found something off about that one. Well, what's done is done; Darren was in high school, and he hadn't an urge to go back to a freak show since. Even adults would find that creature at least somewhat unsettling. But since that incident, he had felt something was missing. Steve too, though that might just be their almost brotherly relationship they had. They both had dreams about vampires, princes, lords, and purple vampires. Darren had more dreams about being a "vampire prince", while Steve had dreams about being the "Lord of the Vampirates". Or was it Vampaneze? Vampish? Who knows, they all sound completely ridiculous and made up. As they grew up, they became closer, doing even more together. Darren quit the soccer team he had join a few years before to spend more time with his best friend. Steve often stayed over at Darren's house, even though they were nearly adults. Most of those sleepovers his little sister Annie had to come and ruin. She always barged into the room yelling about something. "You took too much popcorn! You can't take all the sodas back here! Turn the TV down!" More like the mom of the family. The actual mom didn't really care about what happened, they were used to it. The boys were in Darren's room, Steve relaxing on the bed and Darren sifting through his movie collection. Most of them were old and cheesy horror movies, what the two had been more interested in since their encounter with the Cirque du Freak. "You wanna watch a shitty sequel this time, or would you rather an original?" Darren turned to face Steve, who shrugged in response. Darren rolled his eyes and blindly picked a dvd case. "Alright." He opened the case and put in in the player, before flopping down on the bed beside his friend. "Why don't you just go to netflix or somethin?" Steve sat up and crossed his arms. "They don't have the good ones," Darren replied. "You think those are good?" Steve pointed at the bookcase holding all the dvds. "C'mon, we go through this every week. Just shut up and watch the movie." Steve smirked and again shrugged. The movie started with a loud bang along with the title, Friday the 13th. The audio was loud, as Steve just generally likes loud noises. The other didn't mind too much. "Hey, turn the light off!" Darren grumbled and got up, flipping the switch and returning back to the bed. Steve had taken up practically the entire bed in that time. "What the hell? Get off my side." "Make me." "I can kick you out of this damn house." "We both know you wouldn't do that." Darren hopped up onto Steve's leg. "Yeah, you're right. I'll just sit on top of you then." "Hm, I'm sure you will sometime in the future," Steve murmured, pulling Darren up beside him. "W-what ar eyou-" The boy stuttered, being interrupted by Steve shushing him and turning the TV volume up.
