Fever?
I know people love Fever but personally I had a HORRIBLE experience there. The host had his young son handing out awards late at night, and paused the awards session to openly scold his son over the microphone for handing out an incorrect medal. It was extremely uncomfortable and off-putting.
Where would you put some of the more popular Canadian competitions compared to the US ones in terms of difficulty? For example, I always think of BTF, NYCDA, Press Play, etc as advanced; Starpower etc as intermediate, and then those tiny ones as beginner. Are there any Canadian ones that compare to BTF? Or are they more in the middle, because I would consider On the Floor, View, TKO, as more advanced than Starpower but not as advanced as BTF for example
Yeah I agree with you for sure, I would say those 3 you named are among the most "prestigious" Canadian comps, but still not at the same calibre as BTF/NYCDA, etc. I also might put Elite in that same group of high-level Canadian comps, but I think they've gone downhill in the past few years, a lot of favoritism issues.

yeah I’m in a professional program there so it’s not unusual for me to be secular. Vast majority of their regular undergrads are Christian but they also offer a few direct-career degrees and those cohorts are a pretty mixed bag in terms of religion. I don’t study religion or attend any religious services or clubs at my school, I’m just there to get the degree.

idk people don’t do that where I’m from!! I even lived in Ontario for a bit and taught at a studio where half the kids went to catholic school and they didn’t do that either! Could be a regional difference. I was also raised super secular, my parents are both ex-Christians and are pretty opposed to religion, so I was very sheltered from that stuff growing up. But believe it or not I actually go to a Christian university now lol.
Dance is so educational! For example, I just learned what Ash Wednesday is through the comments of a p21 combo ig vid.

no specific studio, it was a post of people discussing in general is it normal for the same dancers within a studio to often be front row.
So lovely getting these messages on Reddit for saying putting the best dancer in the front isn’t favoritism! People are so normal and kind nowadays ❤️
do you guys genuinely think that when judges are filling out a scoresheet they stop and go "wait but she shouldn't get the same score as this other kid in her category that danced an hour and a half ago... lemme switch this up real quick"
What’s your opinion on people saying some leotards are too high cut? I personally grew up with the standard of leotards having to come above the hip bone/right on it so it doesn’t cut off the line. I honestly don’t think any of the leotards I’ve seen are “too high cut.” Gymnasts also have them high cut for competitions as well
i think lots of leos are too high cut to be worn without tights tbh. but i also hate the look of tights onstage, so i think the easy solution is we just put kids in a costume that covers everything it needs to. high cut leos + tights are a good option for class though.
