“If you’ve come to talk about the attack, let me spare you some time. No, I didn’t do it.” Nat barely glanced at the person before looking back down at the book in her hands. “Anything else?”
“Well, for starters, I literally didn’t ask.” Gwen smiled despite the harshness in her voice. “Two, hate to break it to you Volkova, but you don’t exactly make yourself out to be the innocent little bird when you start out with that defensive tone.”

Fuck if the way she called him Captain didn’t do something to him. He didn’t know why it stirred him so much, considering that it felt more like an insult the way she said than a compliment. “Jealousy is not a becoming trait Jones.” He said rolling her eyes. She just loved throwing the Welsh team in his face, despite the fact that he was named captain. If Edgar was being honest he would say that, yes, Gwen as technically a better player than him, but he was a leader. Gwen’s edges were just a bit too sharp to inspire their teammates to victory.
“You should really be more of a team player Jones.” He stated he said, helping her up from the ground and maybe pulling her a little too close to himself in the process. “I never said you couldn’t run wherever you wanted.” He scoffed, rolling his eyes and shaking her head. “Has anyone ever told you that you seriously need to relax Jones?”
He stood up a little straighter, his standing nearly a foot taller than his teammate, looking down at her with a smirk. “Believe it or not, I don’t spend my time worrying about what you’re doing. Or who you’re doing?” He chuckled, his eyes involuntarily racked over her body. “Maybe you should get laid, it might help you relax a bit.”
Gwen should have pulled away—should be punching him, kicking him, anything—but she didn’t. There was something about his proximity that held her in place, something intoxicating and maddening. “Jealous? Of you? When I’m going to be a starter for a bloody professional quidditch team next year? Fat chance, boyo. I think you’d do well to be jealous of me. Where are you going to be next year? Cheering for dear old Gwen in the stands? Going to wear the green, red, and white for me?”
“Relax?” She stepped closer to him, eyes flashing. Merlin, had he always been this tall? Gwen thought not, perhaps he had a massive growth spurt during the summer, or maybe she’d been too worried about beating the other houses to care how tall he was. Now that she thought about it, she hadn’t really given him much thought before now. Sure, they had their banter—but that was it. Slug Club meetings and events, Quidditch, and Hufflepuff parties (of which she was always on the outskirts) were their main source of interactions.
Yet, she was completely intoxicated in that moment. Anger flared in her stomach, threatening to knock her off her feet once more. “Laid?” She laughed. “Oh yeah, Bones? You see me and your mind automatically screams sex? Is it because you saw my rack in the changing room? Can’t resist a firecracker, can you?” Fuck, he smelled amazing—like sweat and grass and adrenaline. “I think you do think of me, Bones. I don’t think you want to, but I don’t think you can resist, either.”

“Fucking hell,” He cursed as Gwenog brought him down with her, and he practically fell on top of her. “Yes Jones, I am trying to kill you, you deduced my evil plan.” He quipped, looking down at her girl underneath him. Had her eyes always had flecks of gold in them? Had her cheeks always had a rose colored flush to them? “Uh…” He said, losing his train of thought slightly before he realized that he was still on top of her and, oh fuck, her mouth looked good right now.
“Am I not allowed to run?” He asked, his voice developing a defensive edge to it as he quickly moved off her, trying to leave the strange thoughts about her eyes and lips behind him. He got on his feet and tried to remind himself that this was Gwenog Jones for Merlin’s sake. He wasn’t supposed to have those feelings, or any feeling besides annoyance, towards her.
“I could be asking you the same thing?” He said, leaning down to offer her a hand up. “Shouldn’t you be off doing…What is it again that you do Jones?” Yes, this was more like it, teasing her was good. He had always had a good natured rivalry with Gwen, ever since they both joined the Quidditch team in their second year, no reason that should change now just because he noticed that her eyes are more than just a simple shade of brown.
Gwen sucked in a breath, ready to spit out every fighting word known to man, but something brought her up short. She opened and shut her mouth over and over, willing herself to say anything—something witty or even something rude. The atmosphere seemed to be suffocating her as much as his body was. Merlin, had he always been this fit? The way his abs worked over her’s made her breath come in tiny spurts. This was wrong—somewhere in her brain was shouting—they shouldn’t be doing this. Doing what exactly? He fell on top of her, it wasn’t exactly on purpose.
She was grateful when he got off of her, putting space between them so she could breathe properly again. Gwen gulped down huge mouthfuls, running her hands through her hair to soothe herself. “Well, Captain, who am I to tell you what you can and cannot do, hm? I am naught but a lowly Chaser who knows nothing of the intricacies of the sport. Oh wait—who is being scouted by the Welsh National Team again?”
Nonetheless, she accepted his hand and got to her feet. “Training to outshine you at every turn, Bones.” She dusted off her rear, eyes narrowing with annoyance. “I know this is news to you, but this is a free country and I can run wherever I like, whenever I like, without you lording over me, Captain.” Willing herself to sound haughty and not bitter, she crossed her arms and faced him boldly. “I know you would love to know my every move, but I don’t have to explain myself to you, Captain. In case you hadn’t noticed, we aren’t on the Pitch.”
edybxnes:
It was Edgars sixth year of people the Hufflepuff Keeper, his fourth of being the captain and the final of being the team at all. He was still having trouble wrapping his mind around the fact that it was his last year at Hogwarts when so much of his very being was wrapped up in the school, and what his classmates thought of him. He didn’t know what he was outside of the hallowed walls of Hogwarts, and he wasn’t completely sure that he wanted to find out. He had been distracting himself by completely devoted all his times his classwork and extracurriculars, especially Quidditch. If this was his last year he was going to make it count.
He had started running every morning, before anyone else was awake and he had the school to himself. He ran all around the grounds until his lungs burned and his legs ached. He liked having the school to himself, all the pressures seemed to melt away.
He didn’t know how long he had been running when he rounded a corner and smacked right into someone, sending them both flying. “Merlin, where did you come from?”
Gwen was a night owl in the truest sense of the word. It was rare to ever find her up before she absolutely had to be. More often than not, Gwen rolled out of bed just in time to dash to class (skipping breakfast in the process). Today was definitely the exception to the norm. Today, she couldn’t sleep. Since she was a young child she had no problem falling asleep the second her head hit the pillow. At Hogwarts, it always took her a minute to get adjusted. It was so much further north than home, she blamed the climate on her insomnia.
The best thing to do was go for a run. Quidditch season was starting soon, and she had to be in tip-top shape. Her parents had already been in contact with some of the Welsh National Team scouts. They had agreed to come see her play. The thought of playing professionally is what motivated her—what pushed her—and currently, what made her completely unaware of the mass in front of her until she collided with it.
“Gah!” She flew backwards, landing hard on her ass. “Bloody hell, Bones! Are you trying to kill me?” Gwen groaned, shifting on the ground. “I came from the other way—” she pointed to the trail she had taken. “Just there. What are you doing out here?”
hey, isn’t that GWENOG JONES? SHE is a 7TH YEAR + HUFFLEPUFF and I’ve heard that they are DEDICATED and HARD WORKING but can also be BOISTEROUS and ARGUMENTATIVE there’s also rumours that they are part of the ORDER, and maybe that’s because they are PUREBLOOD? but who knows if that is true. they also look really similar to ALISHA BOE, but I don’t see it myself.
