Gilda (1946)
I’m going to do exactly what I please, when I please. I was true to one man once, hmmm… and look what happened Gilda (1946) Director: Charles Vidor.

❝ People just like to give it fancy names when they’re just cheese and crackers with some chopped liver. ❞ she pointed out with a chuckle. Gilda pushed a plate full of food to Judy, filled with food. ❝ This one’s yours, dear. she smiled, waving her hand to ask for wine as well. ❞
Is that what it was? Good thing she didn’t have it. When Gilda pushed over a plate that was her’s, her gaze widened down at it and almost got overwhelmed at what she shouldn’t eat but oh-so wanted to. “This? For me?” She had a genuine shock to her as she put a hand to her chest and laughed. “I’m going to look like a whale after tonight!” Insecure and cautious, she knew that her meal should have been a salad, with chicken, and a drink.
❝ Don't say that! With all the work you do, you deserve a good meal! ❞ she said, grinning. Now, Gilda didn't have to worry about having meals that weren't so nice or fancy--Ballin gave her anything she wished, and she never had to go hungry again like she did back in New York when she struggled.

She walked over to him, pressing her cheek against his as she whispered.
❝ I won’t be here the next time you come back. ❞
▒ █ ▌♛ Closing his eyes at the contact, the man let out a slow sigh. ’ I’m tryin’ to keep you safe. ‘
❝ I know, ❞ she whispered to him afterwards, her eyes pleading, as if it would make him stay. ❝ I'm scared of what'll happen to me when you're not around--of the cage I'll be put back into. ❞

❝ Folks were putting the blame on The lady known as Lou That’s the story that went around But here’s the real low-down Put the blame on Mame, boys Put the blame on Mame… ❞
The atmosphere in the club had changed at some point during the current performance. The men’s attention was directed completely towards the singer on the stage. George took another sip from his drink as his gaze fell on the woman who was performing a sort of striptease. The smirk that formed on his lips was barely noticeable, but it was clear that he wasn’t exactly bored by the show.
She was glad Johnny made no move to pluck her from the stage, her eyes glancing over at him as she danced, sang, and smiled. Gilda needed to get away from him, the man who caged her in like a bird, kept her restless all the time. Once her song was through, she walked up to a very attractive man, bending over to smile at him.
❝ Hey handsome, fancy bustin' this joint? ❞ she asked him, voice sweet.
She was pretty in the kind of way that said she’d run a dagger through your heart and still keep smiling the whole time.

❝ Then leave. ❞ Gilda said, grey-green eyes cold he looked at him. ❝ Everyone does anyway when it comes to me. ❞
▒ █ ▌♛ ’ You’re saying that as if I want to. ‘ Dean replied as emerald eyes scanned over her face. ‘ I don’t. But I have to. ‘
She walked over to him, pressing her cheek against his as she whispered.

❝ You up for a dance, Mister? ❞ Gilda asked, smiling at him. ❝ I'll treat you to a drink afterwards, if you like. ❞

❝ Sometimes I just feel like saying I don’t care. ❞
"Really, darling? I say that all t’goddamn time." He addressed, looking back to his cigarette that he lightly stubbed in a momentary habit against the ashtray; "If a person went around carin’ ‘bout everythin, well, gee, they’d be long gone dead by now…or loco."
❝ That's exactly my problem, I care too much. ❞ she told him, taking a sip from her drink. ❝ Is it wrong to care about someone who means the world to you? All he ever did was gamble--sometimes I thought, maybe that was his real girlfriend. ❞

"Darling, I don’t eat anything I can’t pronounce." Judy chuckled lightly, winking over at her.
“What would you pick on?” She paused, taking a sip of her champagne. “I’m starving, I end up talking so much, I don’t realize that I haven’t ate anything yet and it’s a banquet for pete’s sake.” She loved people and people loved her, and she’d talk as long as she was able to, at least, until her stomach starting grumbled. Then, she had to take a moment to eat something.
