Felicity is a headstrong girl, and when she was asked to do a simple pie chart based on any question she liked, showing the reactions of five people she knew, for some reason, once again, in her haughty way, she said ""No, it is a total waste of time, I have much more important work to do in other subjects that matter!"
The next lesson, a week later no homework.
Miss Hartingham asked again, very nicely.
A week later again nothing, and all the girls giggled.
It was a showdown. So next week it has to be in..."Or else!!"
"Or else what? I have to do a bar graph on another ridiculous question?" Mocked Felicity.
Miss Hartingham came to see me, upset. She is a lovely mild mannered lady. I told her what to do, and, if she did not to her full ability, I would demonstrate what to do on her bare bottom in my Study!
Next lesson I stood at the back of the class, Felicity went pale as she entered, and turned to leave, but the incoming girls led her back like a twig in a river. I think on purpose, ...you see, she gets on everyone's nerves, even theirs!
Miss Hartingham took my advice and delivered it well...
Afterwards I had a word with Felicity and I grabbed her by the ear and led her to the school gate. There I made her do her homework bending at the low wall. I told her she could ask me the question, and three random people who passed, and finally her mother, who had been called and was collecting her soon, with I understand, a certain slipper she is acquainted with.
"I am going to tell your mother of your bad attitude and haughty behaviour and recommend that when the bell goes, she sits on the wall and gives you a sound thrashing over her knee, whilst everyone leaves and walks out of the gate, whereupon I think it will be a good idea to walk you home with your bare bottom on show and plenty of encouragement with the slipper!"
