“You’re going to be just fine…”
The princess’s love for her fallen knight awakens her power
*Don’t remove the source*
I love “asdgjfhdkjnb” and “JFKJDHSGKJHDHS” culture
It feels like March may go by without having drawn anything....how depressing.. I guess it’s been a weird month but historically, not drawing for a long stretch of time always makes me feel a bit depressed
On Netflix globally May 20, 2017
Height Differences!
I love getting specific with canon heights/weights etc. :3cc A few notable things: -Logan is super short obviously, but he is also SERIOUSLY HEAVY. He could accidentally and casually just bump shoulders with you and you’d probably break your arm or DIE.
-Logan’s footsteps while walking down stairs are probably monstrously loud. He’s actually fallen through a lot of wooden stairs just by using them. One time he stomped through a deck and was suddenly on the first floor, welp. -Kurt is very average in height but because of his anatomy, namely his feet/spine/counter-balancing tail his natural stance is a bit of a slouch. He’d appear shorter than his full height. However, if he stands on his tippy toes he’d appear surprisingly tall.
-This is probably a good height for acrobatic specialists -Logan is way shorter than Ororo. KURT IS SHORTER THAN ORORO
-The deep showman’s bow Kurt treats her to sometimes only accentuates that. -Ororo is truly modelesque. Her proportions are super long and elegant. Goddess, yes.
-Being that Ororo can fly, she can soar above them all so she just Wins™
-If Logan walked up to Piotr in armored form and tried to hug him (as if Logan would ever, but who knows, Piotr is very sweet everyone should hug him) his arms would go around his hips. HIS HIPS
-Kurt will leap up to Piotr’s shoulders and sit up there for a better view of things. Piotr doesn’t mind bc Kurt never treats him like an inanimate perch. Kurt always thanks him for his shoulders and kindly pats him on the back.
-Leaping onto Logan is dangerous and only done to infuriate him during tag.
-Ororo can lift Piotr with her control of wind gusts and calls him “little brother” THAT IS STUPIDLY CUTE.
Alright. But. Don’t forget our tiny sneaky, though heavy - is sneaky as hell. (and although he’s heavy for his size, he’s not like … monster heavy.) So I doubt he’s fallen through anything that wasn’t set to break anyhow. But.
this just makes the face offs with Logan that much more ridiculous, artists. He’s TINY. He can’t go eyeball to eyeball with someone as big as Piotr without Piotr STOOPING so he can do it.
CC you say that and all I can picture is Logan needing to stare someone down and telling them to “wait here” before going and dragging a chair over so that he can look them in the eyes i’m sorry
There are actual panels of him having stare-downs with people while standing on a bar table. :D
Also, we should point out that Scott, at 6′3″ is an entire foot taller than Logan, so any stare-downs require Logan to look UP
It’s so true though, Opelia …this is my FAVORITE example - kudos to Kubert for drawing him RIGHT.
REBLOG BC YOU ALL MADE THIS POST SO MUCH BETTER
⋘ this is it. this is what I’m here for. I’m all about Teen Spirit. ⋙
Nightcrawler comforts a recently heel-turned Magneto in a rare vulnerable moment for him. I wonder if the constant use of his first name was intentional on Fraction’s part. Perhaps it’s part of Mags trying to reestablish rapport with a sometimes-enemy. “Thank you, Kurt. You’re a great guy, Kurt. Remember that time I tied you to a chair in a volcano and left you alone with a robot dressed as a maid, Kurt? Kurt?“ Honestly, though, I love these panels. (Uncanny X-Men #517)
fanfic alignments
Lawful Good: lurked for a month before posting to consume all fan content in their area of interest, internalise tagging conventions, and learn what content is already well-represented and what is lacking. fills in gaps in the fandom oeuvre out of a sense of community responsibility. alerts people who were like "why isn't there fic of this" that there is now fic of this and includes author's notes acknowledging those people by name for inspiring said fic.
Neutral Good: writes fic in response to prompts or community discussion. beloved by those who follow and interact with them. potential ouroboros relationship with fanon, where they both contribute to the development of fanon conventions and perpetuate them.
Chaotic Good: "I know no one asked for this but the idea wouldn't leave me alone so HERE, HAVE THIS THING THAT I POURED AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF MY LIFEFORCE INTO. FREE ME FROM THE GRIP OF THIS FEVERED MUSE"
Lawful Neutral: scrupulously researched, impeccably canon-compliant fic. author may go out of their way to mimic the canon narrative style as closely as possible. readers' comments are likely to include "wow, this feels like it could have been an actual episode of [source media]!" high proportion of missing scenes, alternate POV scenes, and character interactions that should have been given screentime in canon but were tragically underutilised.
True Neutral: had an idea, wrote it, and posted it. may not be aware of the fandom zeitgeist or may simply not care. doing their own thing and feeling the fulfillment of an idea properly manifested. lower average hitcount than many other alignments due to lack of engagement with fandom or fanon and potential redundancy to already-existing fanwork. may be dabbling in a fandom they have no specific intention to revisit.
Chaotic Neutral: AUs, expies, self-inserts, reader-inserts, reader-directed/choose-your-own-adventure fic, crack, etc. We're all mad here! Mad and having so much fun.
Lawful Evil: "I have no justification and no excuse, but enjoy this exhaustively-tagged, morally unconscionable character torture! I sure did :)"
Neutral Evil: fic would not have existed if not for the motivating power of spite and frustration with the fandom (or, in certain end-of-the-bellcurve cases, the source media, but in general spite/frustration toward the source media is common in any alignment). whatever other motivations there may be, the fic is an express Take That of greater or lesser subtlety. this author is so mad. why is everyone doing this wrong? WHY MUST THEY BE THE ONE TO RIGHT THIS WRONG? THEY'LL SHOW YOU WHAT THIS CONTENT SHOULD BE. THEY'LL SHOW YOU ALL!!!
Chaotic Evil: wants someone to suffer. is it the cause of their spite, whom they are using Take That fic to call out? is it their readers, whom they are trolling, whether with badfic or with a poisoned-apple plot that seems to be all the reader desires before it takes a horrible twist? is it the creator(s) of the source media? it doesn't matter, as long as someone experiences regret as a result of the fic's existence.
anybody else plunder other fandoms’ fanmixes for shit that matches up wtih like your current fandoms
this is a personal attack
When the rain came down, then came me
Oh, something rarely seen! I wrote a thing!
I’m not a really devoted writer but if the mood takes me, I’ll drabble or work up comic scripts. So this is a short drabble-convo between an older version of Kurt and Ororo somewhere in their late 30s to early 40s. It also doubles as my personal love letter to Ororo (with Kurt as my mouthpeice, haha) I tried to go for a simple affectionate tone rather than true romantic flair but Nightstorm kind of does it’s own thing. This is also completely unrelated to a script I mentioned a while back. Maybe that will come about another day. Enjoy!
Gah, I’m so sorry for taking so long to comment but I LOVE THIS! I could read Nightstorm banter all day, and I think you’ve captured their voices very well. Ororo is so coy and confident about her abilities, and Kurt responds with reverence.
“Even if I could avoid a lightning strike, the odds still wouldn’t be in my favor. I’d say I stand a 50/50 chance.” Ororo’s hand came away from her face. “Hm? Why’s that?” “If I may be so bold… There is a goddess in the sky behind all that lighting. You can’t see yourself, so you may not understand the beholder. When you breathe, you take all the world’s atmosphere into your lungs. When you look up you take all the world’s light into your eyes. No one but she could borrow the reigns of nature. It wouldn’t seem wrong to expect that lighting and yet.. A sight like that, I–” Kurt drifted, looking unexpectedly self-conscious under Ororo’s intensified gaze.
He cleared he throat and continued, this time, more than a bit sheepish. “Your power is truly fearful. I’d linger, I’d hesitate.”
^I particularly love this part! And honestly, I’d probably hesitate too if I faced off against Storm.
“Power bewitches grace. I’d say that’s only fair.”
Also, I love the dynamic of Ororo being “power” and Kurt being “grace.” It’s a wonderful gender role reversal, and I’ve added it to my ever-growing list of “Reasons Why I Ship Nightstorm.”
Awwwhhhh, I’m so super pleased that you like it!! No worries, I did get really excited at first seeing your like and knowing you’d read it ^^ I actually had a lot of prior conversations and things in mind while writing them ^__^
It was incredibly fun to do. Their dynamic has a pretty easy natural flow. Oh, I wouldn’t want to face off against Storm either and especially not when she’s angry or feeling some very strong emotion as that would only heighten her powers. Lots of characters would share Kurt’s sentiment about the awe and beauty of Storm’s power but I wanted to show him with equal reverence towards her while she’s without powers, hence this.
I really ought to get to more drawing, it’s been too long.
X-Men Gold Vol 2 #1 (2017)
variant covers by J. Scott Campbell
Fun fact:
In the comics, both Kurt and Ororo have acted as midwife to help a woman in need deliver da baby.
There must be more Xmen doing this and I’m just not aware lmao
