This is my Scientific Illustration midterm, a fur-bearing mammal study in ink. Just now I’m feeling about like this fella. The salmon, that is, caught in the merciless jaws of academia. Less than a week until Spring Break though! (at Humboldt State University)

It's been fun during the last few months that I've been free from work and school to explore some parts of North America that I haven't spent much time in. My heart is drawn to the desert and all the fascinating, resilient, abundant life that finds a home there. I'm lucky to get to spend a few days in northern Washington this holiday, but soon I'll be back where the air is dry and the plants are cantankerous 🌵 Here's a prickly pear in southern Utah, an organpipe, and perhaps a pincushion near Santiago, Baja.
