Serial killer Gerald Stano was born on September 12, 1951, in New York. His given name at birth was Paul Zeininger. During the first few months of his life, his biological mother was neglectful toward him, so much so that when she tried to give him up for adoption when he was just six months old, doctors deemed him ‘’unadoptable’’ due to the fact that he was exhibiting animalistic behavior, such as eating his own feces to survive. In spite of this, he eventually was adopted by a nurse named Norma Stano, who changed his entire name to Gerald Eugene Stano and provided him with the love and stability he had lacked in early infancy. Growing up, Gerald certainly displayed alarming signs of a budding serial killer. He lied compulsively, stole money from his adoptive father, earned poor grades in school, and wet the bed until he was ten. He graduated from high school at the age of 21 and never attended college. Starting in the late 60s, he began killing women by strangulation or stabbing with a knife. He operated in Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, primarily targeting prostitutes, runaways, and hitchhikers. By his 29th birthday, he was carrying a victim count of 41 under his belt. Gerald was housed with Ted Bundy at Florida State Prison until Ted’s execution. Gerald died in the electric chair in 1998. For his final meal, he had requested Delmonico steak, a baked potato with sour cream and bacon bits, tossed salad with blue cheese dressing, lima beans, a half gallon of mint chocolate-chip ice cream, and 2 litres of Pepsi.
