Meenah took Araneas hand and laced their fingers together. “Yeah…he thinks everything will be fine but…I’m not sure how. Not without the current Grand Highblood dying. Not without something drastic happening. But…he’s your moirail and my friend. I’ll do my best to bring him home.”
She looked at Aranea. “I promise.” She told her fiercely, and meant it.
"Thank you." She pulled Meenah into a quick hug, albeit a tight one, and didn't let her hand go when they broke the hug; it was comfortable and more importantly comforting. Neither of them had any guarantee that Rufioh would be safe, of course, but it felt like he would, and that was what mattered for now.
Meenah was caught in slight irritation and a warm pleased feeling. It was nice to be wanted. On the other hand she had people harping on her a lot for never being around and never talking to them. It was becoming the same situation when she first got together with Rufioh. Some people being understandably pissed, some being inexplicably upset that she hadn’t told them. it was ridiculous.
She scooted over and offered Aranea a seat. “I’m worried about Rufioh too.”
This time it wasn't about Meenah being 'too busy' for her or others, it was about the fact that Meenah was legitimately part of running a war and Aranea recognized that. She sat down next to her, smiling slightly. "I know he thinks he'll be fine in the long run, but this whole war is going to tear me apart."
"Oh." Meenah waved her hand. "I did that a long time ago. The day after you asked me. i got caught up in drama but I undid it. It was a small shift so i wouldn’t be surprised if either of you never noticed it."
She placed her feet back down on the floor and looked at Aranea again. “What else is it?”
She nodded, taking another sip. That seemed entirely feasible-nothing particularly strong and also new had been felt towards either of them sense. "Well, I mostly just...needed some company, I guess. If you're too busy, that's fine, but I'm worried about Rufioh, with his ancestor and everything. And I can't do anything about that."

She nodded and drew her feet up, leaning her chin on her knees. “…Yeah.” Meenah remembered pretty clearly what Rufioh said about doing whats best for someone if you love them, whether that means being there for them…or leaving.
She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. “Let’s not talk about this anymore. Was there some other reason you called me up here?”
"Not the worst idea. A couple, actually, but one more serious than the other-I know I brought it up, but I'm not sure if you did it, did you ever remove the powers you were using on me? I'm purretty sure that it should be fine now, Porrim and I have been well enough established, and just once 'crossing wires' was more than I wanted."
"I don’t know." She sighed, rubbing her forehead. "Dirks right. Kankris right. Everyones right. This isn’t healthy for either of us. Rufiohs getting worse and I don’t know what to do. I love him and…I believe he loves me but we’re no good for each other. If something doesn’t change soon I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to talk to him at all. I felt like he cared about me more when we were just friends. I didn’t feel second best to a woman that wasn’t even around.”
She nodded. It was all too easy to imagine feeling second best to someone...but those sort of thoughts, jealous thoughts, wouldn't help anyone or anything. She placed them aside for now as a pang or two of pity ran through her, hoping to offer advice. "If you're really, truly no good for eachother, you should purrobably end it, Meenah. But giving him a bit more time can't hurt too much."
Meenah frowned and waved her hand. “No, not Bro. A Dirk. A friend of mine.” She hadn’t known him long, but she definitely regarded him as a friend. He was a good man. “Bro wouldn’t ever suggest that. He’d bend over backwards and break apart a moon trying to fix me and Summoner before he ever suggested that.”
She shook her head, confused, and trying to shake out her anger. Keeping track of Meenah's life outside of the timeline was next-to-impossible; she hardly spoke with her anymore and considering her her 'best friend' had been becoming more and more difficult considering that distance, something that it rarely seemed Meenah was inclined to bridge. "Alright, so, another Dirk. Regardless, what do you think?"
"To be fair, the actual getting her idea was a Dirk and my own idea. I figured…if it was going to happen anyway I should at least make sure it went smoothly right? I just…I thought it would make him smile.” Meenah sighed. “I stayed for a bit but Rufioh didn’t say anything to me. I sat with Dirk in the hall and talked to him for a while and he said I should probably break up with him.”
She blinked, blood boiling a bit at that suggestion-the same man that had encouraged Meenah to pursue Rufioh in the first place, the reason for the magic Meenah worked that she'd asked her here to remove, confident she didn't need it before; that man was now suggesting that she broke up with her matesprit. The anger was visible on her face despite herself, and she did little to hide it. "Really. He thinks you should break up with Rufioh, for something that you and he pushed for?"
