the holidays had taken up every moment of cindy's time, and before she knew it, december came and went, and the new year arrived. she had a near perfect end to the year; the only missing puzzle piece was the one person she wished was a part of it: vinnie. plans had been made so far in advance, they couldn't be changed, but she took comfort in knowing where they stood and that they were in a really good place. when he asked her to come to milan, there was no other answer she could've dreamed of giving than yes, the desire to see him taking precedence over all else. en route to italy, she was caught in a limbo between anticipation and nerves; because even though they were good now, it had been so long since he was within arms' reach, and she could only hope that time and distance didn't change how he felt. which was a silly thought and didn't make any sense when he invited her to milan, something he wouldn't have done if he didn't want to see her, but her insecurity liked to sneak up on her without warning. thankfully, by the time she made it to his hotel room, her insecurities had all but vanished, replaced by a singular, all-encompassing need to see vinnie, to feel his touch and show him in every way possible how much she missed him. she barely gave herself time to breathe after she knocked and the door opened, instinct taking over as she made good on her promise and launched herself into his arms. burying her head into the crook of his neck, cindy held onto him as she breathed him in, refamiliarizing herself with his scent. "god, i've missed you," she murmured against the shell of his ear, pulling back a fraction so she could look him in the eye and drink the sight of him in. "now i can tell you directly to your face how ridiculously hot you are. the selfies you post do you barely any justice," she teased, though she was being entirely truthful at the same time.
