“but…” but no dream can ever compare to seeing the real you, seona. he snaps out of his reverie and realizes that his hand is now fully enveloped around hers with his lips dangerously close to the ends of her nails.
he doesn’t know what to do, so he sets her hand down. that was close. dangerously close. he doesn’t want to look away from her, but he also doesn’t want to see the way she looks away from him. she probably didn’t appreciate the way he grabbed her and clinging to her hand like he’s some kind of brute. he brings his hands over his knees, folding them carefully. “but please remember that you are able to use me as you see fit, seona.”
careful, careful, she was always so careful, even in moments that didn’t require such alertness. but hearing him say her name without any other unnecessary titles attached to it felt marvelous. foreign too, but above all it brought some sense of calmness to her heart. ‘’yes, i’m glad you quickly noticed your little mistake. seona just sounds way more natural, doesn’t it? all the people i dearly love call me seona.’’ it was true. the social ranking didn’t mean much to her. those who were near and dear to the princess’ heart had the privilege of calling her many names, but never princess. it just felt overly forced for her to like it.
once she saw his smile she became rather intrigued, trying to uncover the subtle hint in his words. ‘’if it’s not too much too ask, uh could you tell me...,’’ she paused, a sheepish smiling playing across her lips, ’’what did you dream about? it must’ve been a beautiful dream because you see quite content.’’ the question served as a good distraction from her own worries and racing thoughts, and maybe just maybe she wanted to hear him speak fondly of something. or maybe she just wanted to see his smile last a little longer.
she didn’t even notice when her took hold of her hand, but the warmth that radiated from his hand was far too soothing to remain ignored. don’t let go. please don’t let go. but he could not read her silly mind. why did he have to let go so soon? the moment should’ve lasted longer. one eternity would’ve been enough for seona, but alas no one offered her that much. she should’ve said something, anything really. but she didn’t. so when she felt the void of warmth once again, she had no choice but to look away.
‘‘to use you?’‘ she repeated the words, blinking softly and turning her head once more toward him. ‘‘oh i’d never wish to use you. it would be my greatest displeasure to force someone to do things for me. but why did you...’‘ the words were stuck inside of her throat, boldly refusing to come out and see the light of the moon. ‘‘but why did you let go of my hand? is too cold?’‘
