Takeshi Rules Citadel Swords
[ Fantasy AU ]
A known warrior of his kind, Takeshi has had a long career working with various mercenary groups, and gained fame as a swordsman.
Being a centaur, he has both strength and reach, which makes him a deadly foe in combat. Lately though, he has grown tired of bloodshed, and would prefer more quiet of a life, perhaps with a family of his own. But it's hard to sever ties with the groups he used to belong in.
@saniwakenji
[T]: I need for you to go meet my mother. I can't leave the citadel right now.
[T]: I know this is a lot to ask, but we need to get some answers, and I trust you to be tactful about this...
[T]: [Address]
Sometimes his friend really was... someone. Kenji had questions; but he'd just wait until this was done. Not knowing all this would end with him giving Takeshi the scold of his life probably.
So he stood there; wearing his good uniform - usually for work, hair done nicely. He brought some flowers as well as some chocolate with him. The least he could do when just randomly surprising a woman, talking about such an issue.
What should he introduce himself with? Just the best friend? Maybe acting like the fiancee so he was more likely to be left inside? While his thoughts rushed, the door was already opened; leaving him like a deer in the headlights.
"Oh...good evening" he bowed, switching to a smile soon. "My name is Kenji; someone...very close to your son, Takeshi. He sent me...may I come in? Please apologize for this sudden visit, it's rather urgent."
The door was opened by an older woman, dressed in a turtleneck and a cardigan, looking a bit tired but beautiful in a very gentle way. There wasn't much Takeshi in her, so Kenji could only trust it was the right address by the fact she didn't shoo him away on the spot.
Honestly, the sight of a man this tall at her doorstep had filled her with feelings that threatened to spill if allowed to surface. She'd been fearing this day would come, when someone would come tell her the news. It was something she'd been experiencing for years now.
Instead, she took in a deep breath before giving him a small smile, stepping to the side to let Kenji enter.
"A friend of his, hm? I guess things like this should be heard sitting down. Please come in."
She led the young man to the small living room that doubled as an office. The apartment wasn't very big, but it was decorated with good taste.
"Please sit," Takeshi's mother smiled sadly, gesturing towards the sofa, while she took the armchair.
”My name is Mariko. I doubt he's spoken much about me, but I think it's polite to at least tell you my name. "
Kenji was surprised how beautiful that woman still was; of course that was no age to already look like death but she also had a certain...vibe, how she carried herself. Strange to think, but he somehow felt very cozy in her presence.
"Ah, thank you. It's nice to meet you" he placed the flowers - already in a vase - and the chocolate on a table.
"So... I don't know much about your history together, yes. And not much about why...he just doesn't come himself." It was one of the things his friend never spoke about.
"But...there's an important issue." He pulled out a photo he always carried with him; showing the prince himself. Laying it on the table, he gave the woman a few moments to take it in.
"Takeshi will be the best man at my wedding and ...that's my fiancee. Very similar, right?" He smiled, a slightly pained, apologetic one. What can of worms would he open...?
"To protect him I need to know...who was his father?"
Kenji was simply met with a confused stare. For a small, but very pressing moment, there was absolute silence from her, until she let out a laugh, relieved beyond belief. "Y--- you're here for that? Not to tell me my son's dead?" Mariko could barely contain herself, the relief flooding her system and making her hands shake as she held onto the arms of the chair. Oh, she'd been so afraid--. A man in that outfit, with that expression, and flowers... calling himself Takeshi's friend? That had been exactly as she'd always imagined the news to come. But instead it was something like this!
Giving a few last breaths, the woman turned to look at the picture Kenji had placed on the desk, not really sure what to expect. At least, until she felt all joy drain away, at the sight of those features. She knew this boy. Oh no... "...Please don't tell me he's your--", she glanced up at Kenji, full of worry all over again, but this time for his safety instead. "Getting involved with that family brings nothing but pain. Believe me, it's really not worth it." Sighing, she leaned back in the armchair, exhausted from the emotional rollercoaster already. "Oh, his father, yes... He told me he'd marry me, too. Those men know how to use their words, huh? All the sweet nothings, and then you get left with a broken heart and a ruined life the moment they deem you unfit for their cursed family..." She lifted her eyes to take in Kenji's appearance, feeling sad for him. Such a handsome young man, with clearly a very good heart... "I always thought they'd arrange a girl for that boy. You must have made quite an impression to be chosen."
He had to blink a few times as well - of course! Was he stupid? "Oh my, I apologize for worrying you, ma'am. I didn't think of that...he's too responsible to get caught up in anything; especially for his-" wait. Did she know about Maj? When was the last time they even saw each other?
"Hm? Takeshi... has always had a habit of getting himself into trouble. It started small, but I'm... I'm afraid he's gotten himself involved with something even more powerful than that family could ever be. I've had that thought for years now, ever since he first stopped coming over regularly, and had other people dropping by to check on me instead..."
Mariko sighed softly, glancing over at the pictures on the wall, of a young boy in a school uniform, holding his diploma with such a serious face. He'd never been a very emotive boy, but it had still been sad to see him taken over by the crowd he hung out with, as he became more angry and withdrawn. Once he'd started coming home with bruises, and his ears pierced, it had felt like an end to something important. A childhood cut short. "...I think he doesn't come over because it'd get me in trouble, with whoever he's dealing with nowadays," she finally looked back to Kenji, a look of sad acceptance in her eyes, "I haven't seen the little girl either, since she was a year old. I know she must be around five now... I just hope she's safe somewhere too." Then the older woman shook her head, as if to dismiss the topic. "You came here to ask about his father, didn't you? I can try to explain what happened, if you'd like, but I guess just a name would be enough too, if you know this family so well already."

". . . Related to the prince, huh? I guess that's something I'll have to discuss with my mother, if I can still reach her. I've never felt a need for a father, but... I don't want for anything unnecessary to happen at the wedding."
----- Yakuza AU with @saniwakenji ------
Whatever it had been that made Takeshi agree to the idea, must have been great in the beginning. But now, three 'dates' in, he felt a bit out of his element. He'd dated only a few times before, and never more than some coffee, or that one time he was taken dancing, so this was very different. He was pretending to be the boyfriend of one Himetsuru Ichimonji.
A man of the underworld never cared for a simple 'no' and Hime knew that best. Overall, Douyo wasn't an all too bad match; quite his type, the urge to punch him in the face for his glances made it more attractive and he got all the money too. But Himetsuru was endlessly pissed about how this cocky bastard thought he was easy to get. How he'd fall for a few compliments, the promise of princess- treatment and dirty phrases.
Maybe he did fall for that, kind of, but he'd never let that man win.
"Ah...", was all Takeshi could manage. Barely a sound, but it said more than enough, as he stared into the eyes of the man that had attacked him so suddenly and roughly. He knew this man. Well, too... What the fuck he was doing there though, was beyond him. With a knife. A knife, that had momentarily grazed his neck, and would probably leave at least a scrape for a while. It was a miracle he'd not actually broken Kenji's nose just now. He'd trained far too long to take down a surprise attacker, and it had never been very pretty for them.
Using his free hand, Takeshi quickly disarmed the other, though he was careful to not to break Kenji's fingers in doing it. That sort of treatment was not necessary with his best friend. Especially after slamming him into a wall just now. With the knife clattering to the cement underneath, the taller man took a deep breath, before turning to glance at Himetsuru. He didn't need to say anything, just give him the "are you sure about this?" look, before Himetsuru shrugged his shoulder dismissively, and picked up the bag that had been gracelessly dropped. "Didn't think he'd go this far, honestly. A bit pathetic of him, really..." Sighing, Takeshi agreed quietly before allowing Kenji out of the chokehold, and back onto his feet. "I... I really can't wait to hear who's bright idea this was. Because I know it was not yours."

(( OOC still, and unrelated to last post, but I feel like I should make Takeshi older. 35 is not old. That's not very dilf-age... I made that decision before knowing his lore properly. ))
(( OOC but like, @saniwakenji put yakuza au in my head some time ago, and every now and then it pops back up. Today is one of such days. I crave it so much. Let Takeshi do what he is built to do. ))

@saniwakenji "So... Thank you, for keeping watch when I had to suddenly abandon post. I wasn't meant to be gone for so long, but... things happened. Stuff that I'd rather not talk about with anyone but you, really... You know what this is about, anyway."
Takeshi stood there next to his best friend, slightly embarrassed, though he did attempt a smile, as much as he could with a bruised eye and a broken nose.
"But the most important thing is that we're both okay. Even if... you seem a little more haggard than I remember leaving you. Though I do have to admit, the grey does suit you." The dark haired man gave a small laugh, even if more just an exhale really, but he knew Kenji would be able to read it as one. He'd truly missed his friend, over his absence. Being able to rely on Kenji in a hard spot had been a blessing he'd not really known before. Maybe this was a sign he was becoming more normal? A well-adjusted family man? The thought made him sigh, resting his eyes on Kenji's form. His friend was handsome as ever, even with signs of stress clear on him. "...We both really did run into trouble this time, huh? Care to share your side?"
There surely happened a lot...
"Suits you, in a way", Kenji laughed, shaking his head. Of course he was very worried...but that man stood in front of him, alive, and he was feeling more relief than anything. The wounds seemed to be tended to already, so ...
"At least your trouble is...very obvious, I don't like mine is visible on my face. I have to keep up with the younger ones after all" he grimaced, before sighing. "Did you make those people shut up at least or do we need to go after them? Heh"
He may kept things for himself to not worry anyone and wished to still let it be that way...but he needed the reassurance for his swords now.
"I'm apparently really an old man now. My heart didn't seem to like what's going on lately and wasn't it for him, you'd be speaking to my grave right now" he tried to sound light hearted, as if it wasn't a big deal...yet he seemed tired.
"But I have to ask you for a favor. I'm toning down as much as I can - but things seem to get serious with the HRA again. I can't avoid going all out then. If something happens, can you watch over my men? Maybe your little girl even wants to take over one day."
It was sudden, grim even - but who knew when his friend vanished again?
Takeshi couldn't help frowning at the concerning news, trying to really take in what was being said. His friend's heart wasn't doing well, but more worryingly, he was talking of himself like an old man, when he was barely past his twenties? A man in his prime, and already ready for the grave? He would not have that. The older man laid his hand on his friend's shoulder firmly, looking at him with frustration. "You're not going anywhere, Kenji. I know you're going to pull through with this, you're young. Young people can still bounce back." "But...", he sighed, patting the shoulder he had been holding, before letting go, "If it really comes to that, I will take command, yes. It's the least I could do for you."
Unbeknownst to him, Kenji couldn't help but feel lighter whenever his friend was close - even thought that man was one of the most serious he knew. Or maybe it was because that? He was able to read through him and see the true meanings after all.
So he grinned, gave the other a short hug before he looked him in the face.
...but to be honest, it was always kind of tripping, unsettling. These eyes...not just how sharp they were, the unique expression. It was even the same tone. The hair did not help either. "Say ... you're sure you're not related in a way? Would explain my type" he then laughed, trying to lighten up the situation. He knew he didn't need to say a name.
"Oh I almost forgot..." Kenji handed the other a fancy envelope; but this invite was made by him. He wanted to give out personal ones to the people dear to him. "I don't know if you heard the news yet, haha. I really wish to have you there."
"Hm? Related...? Not likely, my mother would have...", he went quiet for a moment, unsure if what he was saying would have made a difference, or even been right. The whole concept of his father was... something he'd always tried not to think about. And the idea that said man could have been related to such an important family was impossible.
But the envelope he was suddenly handed was... not what he'd expected to receive. Takeshi turned it around in his hands for a moment, before opening it. He gave the invite a once-over, before slowly lifting his eyes to meet Kenji's own. "With him? Him as in the--.... As in Ouji?", Takeshi had to ask to make sure, even if he knew the answer already. He should have seen it coming, but at the same time, he just didn't want to believe it. He wanted his friend to be happy, of course, but for all that he knew of the fiancé, it was hard to believe this would bring him that happiness. "... Congratulations, Kenji," he finally sighed, giving him a small smile, "You're a smart man, I'm sure you have better knowledge on what you're getting involved in than I have. I wish you all the luck." "I'll be there. Despite my feelings towards him, I care about you much more than that, so I'll put aside our differences for now. You deserve to have a nice and civilized wedding."
@saniwakenji "So... Thank you, for keeping watch when I had to suddenly abandon post. I wasn't meant to be gone for so long, but... things happened. Stuff that I'd rather not talk about with anyone but you, really... You know what this is about, anyway."

He binds away the sleeves of his Gi.
"Alright, Takeshi-san, let's do this. I got the recommended conditioner."
Fuyuki stands behind the taller man - who's gladly sitting - and works the product into the pretty long hair.
[loosely based on the 'what my muse would do to yours' but not anon because I love the idea Kenji sets up others to help Takeshi relax hehe]
Sighing, the older sage nodded his head to express he would not fight him on this. He knew Fuyuki would treat his hair with the needed care and effort, so there would be no fear of having to undo ay damage later. It might have been a bit vain of him to put so much value on his hair, but he was very proud of it and the length. It had always suited him better, this way.
"Let's do this then," Takeshi agreed, adjusting slightly to not to embarrass himself by falling asleep to the feeling of those gentle hands combing through his hair with such care. It was very nice, to be honest. Relaxing in a very personal way. A way he rarely allowed, in the company of other people. But Fuyuki wasn't just 'other people'. He was a good friend...
