Though more refined and dignified than a certain lion-like guardian, Yue didn’t excel in manners, especially with those he did not serve under. Normally, he had a very biting attitude, deep down a much caring one that was reserved only for his former master and current mistress. Though it seems being stranded here, he’s been going along to Yukito’s whims.
The guardian blatantly expressed his apathy toward the other’s comment. He was already being polite as is, casting aside his suspicions. Regardless of the fact that he wasn’t human, he was still young, it seemed. At least in Yue’s eyes. And in a situation like this, keeping his identity a secret wasn’t exactly something he was worried about.
❝ Think of me as a guardian. Not to you, nor humans or other beings in general, mind you. Though they are not here, I was created to protect certain magical artifacts and my mistress. Does that satisfy you enough to answer my previous question?❞
“Yeah,” Natsuno agreed. Yue’s explanation of what he was had made it pretty clear that 1) he’d been created, 2) via magic and/or for some kind of magical-artifact-guarding purpose, and 3) any explanation beyond that would involve a level of detail he didn’t think either one of them were interested in giving or receiving right now.
“I’m a vampire, sort of,” Natsuno said with a one-shoulder shrug. Vampire traits in stories were inconsistent and varied enough where he’d come from that he wouldn’t be surprised if the same were true for others in Koi. ‘Vampire’ wasn’t a perfect descriptor, but firstly, he didn’t think he could give one that would translate for Yue, and secondly, it was the best option he had for conveying the general idea of what he was without providing too much information.
Natsuno was prepared to deal with a hostile reaction to that information, but a small part of him - the same part that found Yue irrationally alluring - hoped he wouldn’t get one. Actually wanted to...
It took Natsuno a moment to properly process the want because it was one he hadn’t experienced in years: he wanted to chat with Yue. Learn more about him, even.
All the more reason to be suspicious. What the fuck. If the vampire thing didn’t preemptively end the conversation, demanding to know what the hell Yue was doing to his brain to make it short-circuit would be Natsuno’s next step.
