Okay, so, Rotten Hail AU explanation time, I'm planning on redoing it all and remaking all the lore but, here's the 3(.5) core plotpoints:
1: When Moon collapsed, her western legs gave out first, causing her structure to fall into Pebbles'. They both collapsed at the same time, so the Ice Age of Saint's campaign happens MUCH earlier, just a little after Spearmaster's.
1.5: all the campaign slugcats exist at the time the story takes place, because this is my au i can do what i goddamn want. also, they're sapient and intelligent, because again, i can do what i want, and i want sapient slugcats. they do get zany biology tho
2: The Slugcats and Scavengers struggle to survive amongst the cold, with dwindling supplies of food, water, and heat, the only saving grace being the ruins of Moon and Pebbles having some active systems still generating some heat, and the Karma Gates still able to generate heat using emergency backup power. However, these resources risk being destroyed, by-
3: The Rot has evolved. With even larger supplies of Neuronflies to feast on, some Rot clusters have developed limited intelligence and have spread it to the rest of the Rot, granting the Rot new capabilities: namely, Clusters now have the ability to mimic some of the abilities of consumed prey, and due to the large amount of Orange, White, and Cyan Lizards once on the Wall and in Underhang, most clusters are faster, act in small hiveminded groups, and can turn invisible to a degree (their large tentacled shapes are a bit harder to hide).
