lemme yap about kevrolf for a bit. i feel like kevin would fall first, like maybe in high school he starts really becoming aware of his bisexuality and aware of his crush on rolf? like i feel like he does canonically have a crush on nazz but also he would develop a crush on rolf that he's unaware is a crush, especially in the later seasons. kevin would have a lot of toxic masculinity stuff to work through, especially around liking men lol. rolf would take a longer time to develop feelings for kevin, especially with my demiromantic headcanon for him, but i think sometime after he realized he was gay (when older, maybe in high school) he would start thinking about kevin and like be unable to keep kevin out of his mind :) his good friend kevin :) hey what's this feeling in his chest whenever he thinks about kevin? and then he would hang out with kevin and be like Oh. is this what a crush feels like? am i in love? (kevin would assume rolf wants nothing to do with romance and thus assume he had no chance with rolf at this point lol) rolf starts acting awkward towards kevin, which makes kevin assume he offended him somehow and start acting awkward towards him and this creates this awkward feedback loop until someone notices and finally forces them to actually talk about what's bothering them. and then yay :) kevrolf

No Speak Da Ed Discussion Question

What are your thoughts on Rolf’s story arc in No Speak Da Ed?

I think it does great with giving Rolf a more vulnerable and serious side without getting too heavy handed and out of style for the show. I also can’t help but think it’s kind of ironic he will randomly howl in some episodes when apparently howling is a trigger for him

I used to hate this episode for some reason, maybe because of the Pagan stereotypes (there’s evidence throughout the show that Rolf belongs to a made-up sect of polytheist Paganism, and I use Pagan here as a general term to describe the still surviving non-Christian half of modern-day Europe who silently resisted the Christianization back in the 13th century, but this episode represents his possible religion as a “cult”). 

Why Rolf always speaks in dramatic Shakespearean intonation with an accent on every other syllable? ‘’You are all punish-ED!’’

Now this episode doesn’t bother me. It actually makes me laugh my ass off in some parts (mainly just the Eds’ parts).

Aside from comedy, I think it’s a great episode for Rolf’s character development. Rolf is one of the few side characters besides Jimmy who always handles the more serious episodes (e.g. ‘’Wish You Were Ed’’ and ‘’Dueling Eds’’ just to name a few), and this one is probably the most serious one of all. He’s a very complex character and this episode just shows us more of that complexity. His upbringing in his homeland is kept so vague and mysterious, and we finally get a chance to see a flashback of his childhood and the hard life he must have led; for instance, he had shepherding duties as a toddler and was sent out in the dead of night which is highly dangerous for such a small child– luckily a real wolf didn’t attack him. Nonetheless, the experience traumatized him enough to affect his teenage years. You have to wonder if this is one of the reasons why his Great Nano decided to relocate the family overseas… how different his life could have been had they stayed in the Old Country, but I think he has a much better life in Peach Creek. It’s not that his life was horrible in Europe by any means, as he has many fond memories of it, but it’s not until Season 5 that we learn his life wasn’t all peachy either. He had that one horrible event that scarred him for life, and it could possibly explain his random moments of insanity at times (not to mention a glimpse into the future of old man senile Rolf).
