Hi! I don't update as often as I used to because I don't dye my hair as often as I used to. Scrolling allllll the way back to the beginning of this blog, my hair was just below shoulder length. It's now almost 7 years later and my hair is below my butt (and I get annoyed that I accidentally sit on it constantly). Instead of 2-3 hours, it takes me 6 hours to dye it now, so I just can't be bothered doing something new every month. But, I've been wanting to do this color scheme for a while and I'm really excited to share this one. We have a hibiscus bush in front of our house that produces this really gorgeous flowers, and I decided I wanted to be one. Naturally, the day I take photos, there were no flowers for me to decorate my hair with...

I updated my rainbow a couple weeks ago and took photos but I had to jump on a plane and I forgot to ever upload any of them until just now. The blue and purple on the ends of my hair is pretty much stained that way, so I'm just trying to drag the other colors further down and keep my roots with lighter colors for a while.
Trying to catch up on a recap of hair adventures over the last year. After my Christmas gradient last year, I had a pretty good base for going into a rainbow gradient, which I hadn't done in quite a while.
I went on a cruise and was standing in the aquarium at Atlantis in the Bahamas for this photo. The strange shadows on my hair are just how light was reflecting through the water, but it was a pretty scenic place for a hair portrait.

The secret to this rainbow was doing a bottom and top layer with orange -> pink -> purple gradient and a layer in the middle of yellow -> green -> blue. When your hair dries and naturally separates, bits of the middle layer peek through. I was slightly concerned that I might have some muddying where green touches pink when washing, but no issues of that so far and I've been rocking this color for a month now.

This was actually an experiment from over the summer. A while back, I'd won photo of the month from my lovely friends at haircrazy.com and was sent an awesome package with some random dyes to try out. One of the colors sent to me was Pravana Silver, which I thought, "What the heck am I ever going to do with this? My hair will never be light enough for silver to take."
As you can see, I was wrong. Pravana Silver is pretty amazing and covered up some freshly bleached, slightly yellow rootage. Streaked in with some pinks, purples and blues, I actually ended up loving the result. 10/10 recommend Pravana Silver.

Hi!
I suck at keeping up with multiple social media channels at once, but the good news is I haven't died and I'm still dying regularly. ;) This is my latest rainbow.

Good morning, Tumblr!
After my aurora borealis inspired hair a few months ago, I got stuck with some blues that just refused to budge. I wasn't going to let that stop my Christmas hair tradition, but I did have to improvise a little bit to work with the stubborn blue. Vampire red gradient into enchanted forest (so that the blue tones would make for better bleeding and blending) into green envy with a touch of electric lizard for UV pop on the ends!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone.

I haven't dyed my hair since June as I was trying to get these stubborn dark blue streaks out... naturally as soon as I had them faded enough, I dumped more blue right back over them (doh). Oh well - was feeling inspired by the northern lights for colors/placement and I'm pretty in love with how it turned out. Forgive the messy look, I had slept with curl formers in but as soon as I stepped outside this morning the humidity killed them and I was left with this look. At least the colors are vibrant.

One of my favorite rainbows to date, but I've been so busy the last month that I never got a chance to take decent outdoor photos of it. Even here, I was in a hotel room getting ready to head off to Louder Than Life (was anyone else there?!).

It's been an eventful couple of months as I moved a few states away, but finally settled in and had a chance to apply new colors.
This was a concoction of all my green and blue leftovers from the past year or two of hair dying. I used a method Guy Tang displayed in his latest Aurora Borealis inspired hair YouTube video, using dark colors for a shadow root and dark colors on the ends of the hair to make the middle colors really pop.
Root and end shades are: Manic Panic Blue Moon Manic Panic Enchanted Forest Manic Panic Rockabilly Blue Manic Panic Shocking Blue Manic Panic Voodoo Forest
Middle/vibrant shades are: Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise Manic Panic Electric Lizard Manic Panic Siren's Song Manic Panic Green Envy Manic Panic Venus Envy Manic Panic Voodoo Blue
Electric Lizard and Siren's Song glow in UV, causing them to pop even more in sunlight.

Just to show the length of my hair. I swear there is more blue and pink in there than this photo makes it look like, just hiding in the underlayers and at the front, apparently.
I feel like Lisa Frank painted me. It's wonderful.
