made moonwater last night
relit the candle i used for my last manifestation spell and this was the flame
me because i fell asleep and missed the pink moon
any tips for closeted witches?
manifestation spell
materials i used :
⛤ lavender
⛤ chamomile
⛤ incense (to cleanse)
⛤ purple candle
⛤ paper (to write my intentions)
⛤ lavender water
⛤ glitter (because it’s pretty)
the perfect routine is doing a face mask and then casting a manifestation spell while reading a book with ariana grande playing in the background
how i feel while secretly bringing candles and herbs into my room trying not to be noticed by my family

can flavored water (rose water, lavender water, etc) be useful for witchcraft??
materials i gathered (all found at home):
⛤ candles (white ones, yellow ones, purple ones, green ones, red ones, a blue one and also a halloween themed one)
⛤ incense sticks
⛤ some herbs (rosemary, sage and also flowers and ones i got from herbal tea bags)
⛤ blue salt from sicily
⛤ a jar
⛤ a lighter ofc
⛤ a cute container for small materials
⛤ a bunch of other things i’ll add later
what other materials could i get without spending too much or making my parents wonder what i’m doing??
just found some incense sticks and also a jar!
i’m thinking of making a spell jar
is there anything i should know before making one??
a question for other witches:
can i reuse a candle after a spell? or will it ruin the spell i used it for?
I definitely reuse candles, unless a candle was very specifically designated for a particular spell, or requires being burnt entirely. But if it's just, oh light a candle for this part, nah, things are way too expensive to be wasteful. But, if you're worried about it, the solution lies in how you're getting your candles and what kind you are using.
You don't need to buy brand new candles. You can find candles at thrift stores, garage sales, and flea markets often super cheap. A lot of people will use tapers once for a fancy dinner party and then break out new ones for the next, leaving them with tapers that have only been burnt once. Personally, I think partially used candles are fine to use for most things. People will buy candles, never use them, and get rid of them. People practically give them away at yard sales.
More importantly, though, you don't need to use tapers or pillars for spells! Often, spell candles only need to burn for a short time — the magic is in the burning, not the size or the shape. And who has 48 hours to keep an eye on a spell candle that needs to burn all the way down? Which is why I recommend any of these:
All of these candles are small and perfectly serviceable, and can come much cheaper, especially if you get them in bulk. You can get pretty much any of these in bulk, in any color. As with tapers, you can find them at thrift stores and yard sales and dollar stores easily.
The chime candles are about finger-sized and are my favorites to use; they're essentially mini-tapers and are designed for religious candle purposes for a variety of faiths. You can also get emergency candles, which are a similar size and shape, maaaaybe a little bigger. This size & shape of candle is my favorite because they feel like they have more oomph and I can still dress the candles if needed.
The thick red one is a votive. These can be a little expensive, but not as bad as pillars, tapers, or jarred candles. Like the chime candles, their size makes them easy to carve or dress as needed.
But if you just need to simply light a candle and blow it out again, the best by far is simply a tea light or a birthday cake candle (as long as you have a holder that fits it! don't just try to balance a birthday candle on its end! and make sure it's secure if you are blowing it out because they are so light your breath can and will push it over!).
Tea lights and birthday candles are small, discreet, and don't take long to burn entirely. A tea light will burn for up to 4 hours. A birthday cake candle can go anywhere from 5-15 minutes, depending on the type of wax, type of wick, how warm it is in your space, and other related factors. And ten minutes is plenty of time for most spells.
a question for other witches:
can i reuse a candle after a spell? or will it ruin the spell i used it for?
just tried casting my first ever spell (a protection spell)
i put salt and rosemary inside the candle holder, wrote my intention on the paper sheet and tried making a sigil out of it’s corner, then placed the candle over it and burned the sigil.
i’m not sure i’ve done everything the right way, but i think intention and energy is what matters the most.
Looks like a good spell! Don't worry about doing things "right", just study and practice and find what works best for you!
thank you!!

i’ve been doing research on herbs, crtystals, candles and witch’s history, but i’d like to know more about witchcraft or find books about it
any advice from other witches??
That very much depends on what kind of witchcraft is interesting to you. There are many different kinds. But for generalized advice...
A lot of people and writers are gonna try to tell you that they know the real secrets, or that they know what really works. So it is important, above all else, that you use your critical thinking skills. You might see people in this space also call it discernment.
You need to be the one to decide what works and is right for you, but you also need to be careful because misinformation rampant and disagreement is common. Witchcraft spaces are often very loaded because it is so heavily tied to beliefs, which means that people will be very passionate and very defensive about their personal perspectives and practices. Many witches try very hard to foster an open space where people can practice whatever works for them. Be kind, and don't fall for harassment campaigns and cliques.
Witches are just people. People can be wrong. People can be misinformed. People can be biased. A lot of people that run podcasts, vidseries, blogs, etc, that look like they're trying to educate people? They are also trying to maintain an audience. That's not to say there aren't trustworthy sources, but you need to think critically about them.
You will need to read a lot. Look up information about the authors, especially look at what other people say about them - peer review is important! You need to think critically about what you're reading or listening to. Who is saying this, and why, and what are they getting out of telling you this? You need to be able to recognize when someone is basing their idea on a bias or something factually incorrect or something they made up entirely.
You can look up a list of correspondences that tell you that rosemary means this and sage means that, but why do they mean that? Where does that meaning come from? What culture is this connected to? And this is important because different cultures may have different meanings and connections.
Don't rely solely on New Age and neopagan sources - read history. Read science. Try to learn from people within living cultures. Academic study will provide you with peer-reviewed thought and factual details that can back up or rule out information.
For example, there's the infamous "potato goddess of Ireland" that one author made up for her book. But potatoes are native to South America, and were not introduced to Ireland until years after paganism had been overtaken by Christianity. That author made up an entire goddess that is easily disproven. Learn about the authors from outside sources - what is the general consensus about their reliability? Their credentials? Where did THEY learn what they are talking about?
Don't be afraid to experiment. Don't be afraid to be wrong. But foster your thinking skills first. What are you drawn to? What speaks to your soul? What are you looking for? That is your starting point. From there, it's all exploration.
so helpful!! thanks for your advice!
