 Emily couldn’t help but smile faintly at Haley’s reasoning.  “Then maybe it’s about time we stop hiding it,” she agreed,  a small nod accompanying her words.

“I knew you’d see it my way” Haley laughed, quickly kissing Emily’s lips. “I have to admit though that I don’t really know how to tell them...a phone call doesn’t really seem right. Would it be weird to have them over for dinner? Or should we tell them separately?”

Shifting slightly to get more comfortable, Emily rested her head on Haley’s shoulder again. “Then you must have a lot more patience than…well, pretty much everyone,” she laughed quietly.

Haley kept humming under her breath and rubbing Emily’s back. She was glad to see when she started to fall asleep. She’d been worrying about Emily lately, she seemed to look more tired every time Haley saw her. She remembered the same thing happening with Aaron sometimes when the team had a heavy case load, but Emily seemed even less willing to take a break than he had ever been.

For a while Emily slept peacefully, then she slowly began to stir, slowly drifting awake again. She blinked a few times, lifting one hand to rub her eyes before shifting to fix her eyes on Haley’s face. “How long was I asleep…?”
