Here are some photos of the bushfire situation right now here in Australia. There are no filters on these photos, the red colour is from ember storms created by strong winds and immense heat. I hope everyone is staying safe and my prayers and thoughts go out to everyone affected by these horrific blazes, especially the thousands nearby in Mallacoota where it is now too late to leave.

This is so fucked up. Another firefighter has died and now there is currently a town of 4,000 residents in vic, australia that weren’t evacuated and are now huddled on a beach. There are boats rescuing them but they are being told to swim in the beach water to survive. I have a friend there and it’s so insane, her neighbours refused to leave who knows what has happened to them. These are pictures from 9.30am this morning, the sky was pitch black before turning dark red, the temperature hit 49 degrees (celsius)

This is a climate change emergency and our government are denying it every single step of the way 😡😡😡

I’m at Leviosa, a Harry Potter convention and Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood) is here. During the Q&A he was asked about Alan Rickman and he said that Alan had such an intense charisma that he could have shown you nothing but kindness for 20 years and you would still be terrified of him. He said that he had worked with Alan on a film before Harry Potter and that he thinks Alan May have put in a good word with the casting director for him. But the best take away was when he was describing the security in set to make sure that people didn’t steal any props but Alan was the only one who got away with it. He wouldn’t even hide what he was doing. He would give props to children who were visiting the set or just take things to give to charity auctions and that when one of the producers finally worked up the courage to tell him to stop Alan flat out said no. Sean said it was “benevolent thievery”

David: We have just come from a publicity photoshoot for Good Omens, which is a show we’re doing, during which we had to sort of dress up in clothes and have our photograph taken, kind of as ourselves.

Michael:  Yeah

David: I don’t think I’m talking out of school when I say that both of us find that… not our favorite part of the job of acting.

Michael:  No. We haven’t talked about this until now, so this is quite fun. [David laughs]  Can I ask you, am I the grumpiest person you’ve ever seen at a photoshoot, or have you seen grumpier people?

David: Oh no, I’ve seen grumpier

Michael: You have?

David: Yeah.  I don’t think you’re that grumpy. I think you’re an honest version of how I’m feeling

Michael: I wanted to kill everyone. Including myself

David: [Laughing]  That’s exactly what’s going on in my head, but because I could see how annoyed you were at times, it made me become sort of a performing monkey, going “No, everything’s great! Everything’s fine!”

Michael: I’m so sorry

David:  No!  Because you’re right!  It was excruciating

Michael:  I was aware at certain moments that I was totally leaving you to pick up the pieces. [David laughs]  I was just refusing to answer certain things. I was like a child, just not answering.  And you were very nicely, because you’re a lovely person, saying something just so that there wasn’t utter silence.

David: Usually I’m you in that situation

Michael: [Laughing] Are you really?

David: Exactly. That’s what I mean. I think we’re very similar about it. I’m asking you, as a means of therapy for myself, why is that bit of the job so excruciating?

Michael: Because it sort of strips away a lot of the stuff that allows us to feel better about ourselves. 

David:  Right

Michael: So it strips away all the pretense of artistry.  It’s just, “MONKEY F**KING PERFORM, MONKEY!!!”

After seeing @writcraft and @drawlight‘s brilliant cartoon-form images, I had a go at my own. I actually wasn’t going to post it, because I generally hate pictures of myself, but it turns out I like cartoon-me considerably more than pics of real-life-me! :D The nose isn’t right, but the rest is broadly accurate.

It’s also the first time I’ve ever used Ace colours, online or IRL. There’s still such a lack of awareness of & understanding about asexuality, which it makes it very hard to be open about it, even in online spaces that accept and celebrate most other sexualities. During Pride this year, I saw a girl on twitter temporarily remove the ace flag from her profile because she was getting more hate during pride month than the rest of the year. A lot of it comes from LGBTQ+ people, which frankly, hurts even more.

Anyway... that’s me. With an ace badge. One day I’ll be ready to wave the full flag, but for now, the badge will do :)
