Description: University was already hard as it is. Taehyung and you had been paired for a project in your psychology class and fortunately, Taehyung was laid back and pretty reliable/ helpful person. But all it takes is one mistake to change it all.
After receiving the message, you didn’t believe it for a minute; it was obvious that things were not okay. Everyone could feel the awkward, tense atmosphere between Tae and Saeeun. Hyungwon began to notice as well, after a few minutes of one-word responses between the two. It made you feel bad for Tae, knowing that he convinced you and Hyungwon to come even though he and his own lover weren't on good terms.
You didn’t really know Tae as well as Saeeun did obviously, you’ve only had one class with him- which wasn’t even very long, but you knew for a fact that he wasn't creating the tension; it was Saeeun. You and your boyfriend knew, after all, she began glaring daggers at the two of you and seemed completely uninterested with being apart of the conversations.
Taehyung didn’t describe her like this. Apparently, she was a great person, very sweet and caring. It also wasn’t a shock that she didn't like you. It was pretty much bullshit when Taehyung tried to reassure you, but you weren’t oblivious to the situation.
You brushed off the thought of her feelings and continued to wash your hands. Hyungwon and Tae got along, so why couldn't you and Saeeun? After finishing, you swung the door open to leave when you were greeted with Saeeun herself. She really was beautiful. Her facial features were near perfection. She would have seemed like a nice person if you just met on the streets, rather than her staring at you all night. Maybe it was the heels? She was taller by a few centimeters if anything.
Smiling kindly, you tried to walk past quickly as talking to her wouldn’t have seemed like the best option at the moment.
“Y/N right?” She said quickly before you got too far.
You nodded while croaking out a small “Yes”. The restrooms and your guys’ table really wasn’t that far, in fact, you could see the guys talking to each other from here.
You could hear her heels tapping the floor with every move she made, and every tap you could hear come closer, “What the hell is your problem?”
That’s when you turned around to face her, “What?”
She crossed her arms, keeping her eyes behind you, making sure that none of the guys could have seen you, “Do I need to repeat myself? What is your problem? If you have a boyfriend then act like it, why do you have to take Tae’s attention away from me?”
“I don’t even know if you’ve noticed but we’re all trying to get you into our conversations too. I’m not sure if it’s because you don't like me, but stop acting like a damn kid. We’ve been trying to involve you but it’s your choice if you want to talk with us”. Honestly, you didn’t even realize what came out of your mouth or where it came from, but all you knew that you were getting heated and honestly you didn’t even know why.
She stood silent for a moment with her tongue poking the inside of her cheek and looking around, avoiding all eye contact. Your phone chimed after a moment of silence. You checked to see the message and you weren’t surprised when you saw that it was Taehyung.
TaeTae: is everything fine?
You turned around to see him and your own lover looking in your general direction. Before you could respond, your phone was quickly taken out of your hands.
“What the fuck?!” you shouted, gaining a few stares at your outburst. Although you couldn’t see it, you were certain Saeeun was reading previous messages between you and Taehyung. Your suspicion was confirmed once she stopped scrolling and instead started laughing, her tone laced with unamusement.
“With how much you guys talk and spend time together I’m surprised you guys haven’t been sleeping together. You know Y/N? Why don't you? I’m pretty sure your boyfriend would make an exception if you wanted to suck Taehyung’s di-“ you cut off her sentence by slapping her across the face.
It was so shocking to you, really. You just hit your (probably) best friend's girlfriend, and honestly? You can't find it in yourself to regret it.
“When you talk shit, don’t be surprised when you get hit,” you responded fiercely and quickly took your phone away from her and began walking back. You could feel the deep anger growing inside you and as much as you would have wanted to stay, the atmosphere was ruined and all four of you knew it.
Walking towards the table, you could feel the stares of others as you passed. Both Taehyung and Hyungwon were wide-eyed and silent. When you finally got there, your lips pursed together for a moment. Pure silence. No one had anything to say, nor asked what happened. You pointed to your bag as a way to signal you were ready to go. Luckily, Hyungwon understood what you wanted and stood up along while holding up your bag. You didn’t say anything as you walked out and you could feel Taehyung’s eyes follow you as you walked out. It really did pain you that your friendship and the date, in general, had to end so badly.
You and Hyungwon walked out of the restaurant quietly, half due to shock and half of you still being mad.
“Are you alright?” He asked when you two finally got outside. The night wasn’t as cold as you expected, and it really did disappoint you. The cold air could have helped you relax.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” you responded quietly.
“Y/N, you and I both know that’s a lie. What happened?” You stood quietly again. Tonight, you felt as if you had no words to say to Saeeun after. He was right, it was a lie.
“I don't even know. She took my phone away, started reading our messages and—“ you cut yourself off as you didn’t know how to tell him the other things she was telling you, “— and I’m not even sure why it got me mad.”
“And that’s why you slapped her?” No. You nodded your head yes kept your head down to avoid looking at him.
He was silent for a moment then giggled a little, causing you to lift up your head, confused.
“Don’t teach these kinds of things to our kids. What are we gonna tell the director when they get into fights?’’ You had to admit that it did make you smile and push him in a jokingly manner. “Should we go get some coffee? We can take it to go and forget the night ever happened in my apartment.”
“I'm not in the mood for anything sexy tonight,” you replied while kicking at the pebbles in the road.
“I didn’t even mean it like that. We could just hold each other and fall asleep together. I mean, if that isn’t the cutest couple thing to do, what is?’’
You laughed a little now, “Fine, I just wanna change already honestly.” He picked up your hand and enclosed it in his, smiling at you. He made you feel safe but you didn't know why. Somehow, he found ways to make you feel at ease and happy with yourself.
“Are there even any coffee shops open right now?” You asked while beginning to swing both of your hands as you walked.
“The one near my apartment. I think their coffee is pretty good. If only the one near your apartment was open, we could have just sat down there and enjoyed-”
After that sentence, you couldn’t remember what happened after hearing the doors violently swing open, your head being pulled back and feeling a hand fly across your cheek. Your hand being released from Hyungwon’s.
