since moving to socal I've been focusing on learning Spanish, i dont really want to move back to a lead teacher position or become district teacher without being fluent in Spanish and a little adequate in Mandarin I think.

It's so fun to work with the kids I have that are bilingual! Since they are 3-5 it's easy to bounce of vocab in both languages with each other. Incredible learning experience and I'm picking up way more than I ever have with Duolingo or taking notes.

My favorite interaction so far as been with a 3 yr old. She was so quiet and then when I started telling her "(NAME) es linda/bella nina!" She just brightened up and then babbled on and on in Spanish about how cute and how cute her family says she is 😭

Oooof working in my new job is great. I've never worked with a staff that is is so calm and passionate about the kids, including my new managers. We can take pee breaks when we want and the classrooms max ratio 3:24 for teachers:students, but my class usually just hits 4:8 for students. Which is. Wonderful?

The focus at my new job is child supervision + socio/emotional support AND they overstaff the classrooms so that there's always 3 teachers in a class, sometimes even 4!

I've never seen happier students, it's great seeing that when a kid needs one-on-one attention there's no sacrificing time and energy from the rest of the class!
