Grayson wasn’t happy to see her. Not anymore. A part of him still remembered what they had, all the moments and struggles they went through. Knowing he wasn’t quite as over her as he’d like himself to be, frowning at himself for just a second. He could fake it. There was a small moment when he thought about faking it. About sweeping her up in his arms in greeting, and almost acting as if nothing had happened. Maybe like that he’d still be able to keep a small part of her, retain what they used to have somehow. But acting like nothing had happened, when he still felt like she was a part of him. When he still felt like she was his…well he couldn’t do that. “Are you?” he asked, a hollow laugh following his words. “That’s good.”
WOW. NEVER BEFORE had delilah felt like she wanted the world to suck her up on the spot like she did right about now. she knew him, she knew how he could be with people but never did she think he’d be like that with her. though maybe it should be expected ? they’d been through so much and now they weren’t anything, of course things would be different. even if she wished deep down that they weren’t. "really, grayson ?” she sighed, her eyes slightly pleading with his. “it doesn’t have to be like this.” as much as she’d tried to move on and get past things, there was a part of her that knew he’d always have a hold on her at least a little bit. smiling slightly in an attempt to move the mood, delilah spoke, her voice soft and low. “how’ve you been ?”
