Can someone please explain to me the whole sucking eggs thing?
Omg Same, I never fully got it aahaha (the Dutch equivalent is not very helpful ugh)
I don’t care what Wikipedia says, I’ve never heard this phrase in my life
SAVIOUR (now I’m wondering why exactly this wording, but that’s just my inner nerd coming out)

Ingvar can’t read.
I mean, think about it. Before Hal made the spectacles for him, he could barely see his hands in front of his face. You think he can make out little tiny letters?
Maybe he can write some things. His name. Months. Numbers. That kind of thing.
He probably got really good at doing math in his head because, well, it’s not like he can write down the equation (but maybe he does anyway, because the hand movements help keep the numbers straight).
His mother is delighted when he asks her for help — she used to teach barneskol before the fire ruined her lungs and made speech difficult. She still loves to teach, however, and children are always knocking on her door for help. But never Ingvar. He never needed help with math, and reading…well, you can’t read what you can’t see, and Braille hasn’t been invented yet.
So they stay up nights and Ingvar learns his letters by starlight and candlefire, ten years after everyone else and twice as well.
another ranger’s apprentice stain glass window. this time a ranger’s horse raring up.

Day 6: favorite book character
I absolutely love the Ranger’s Apprentice book series, they’ve been with me through some really hard times and have comforted my lonely spirit.
No surprise that I would fall for the mysterious King’s Ranger Halt, but that’s only cuz he’s written so well how can you not love him? Smart, snarky, ruffled and scruffy man that has a rarely seen soft side. And his humor is best, come on!
My contribution to the series
His knives look a little weird.
Down to the beach I strolled once again today!
Just read book number eight. I just had to draw this scene.
