Cute Garifuna kids in Livingston.
Livingston was a nice surprise on my trip, but is surely far more complicated of a place than even I had imagined. This was the first place I had ever been where children ran over to dap me on every block (which was cool) and also where a young girl begged for my bottle of water. It was also the only place where I had seen Garifuna, Maya and Ladino Guatemalans all socializing and shooting the shit on multiple street corners, yet even so, Polo, the local wiseman pointed out that there still existed a Spanish side of town and a Garifuna side of town.
Photo taken in the Garifuna side of town.
Delicious tapado that I enjoyed while staying in the small community of Estero Lagarto located in the Punta de Manabique.
The beautiful Lago Izabal. Taken from the dock in El Estor, Izabal
Taken during my day trip to the El boquerón just outside of El Estor, Izabal, Guatemala (obviously). While one of the simpler (and cheaper) destinations in Izabal, it ended up being arguably my favorite place. A quiet park along the river that's great for swimming, doesn't get too full of people and that offers a short, but excellent excursion through the amazing canyon where monster monkeys scream at you and giant rock formations resembling animals leer over your presence. Definitely worth the 5 quetzal entrance fee. First picture: taken at the entrance of the canyon.
Second picture: The Tiger Claw
Third picture: The Mayan face
Popular theory briefly contested, scientifically proven to be true.
Just wanted to confirm that women, regardless of nationality, culture or the number of beauty pageants under their belt, are indeed, incomprehensible creatures whose soul purpose arguably may be to see how many times my head can literally explode. That is all.
Trying out the lazy-person Panorama feature on my camera. It mostly came out alright, but the point is that I have an awesome view from my house. Sure beats looking at the freeway from my room back home.
One of my favorite sights since being down here. Taken in Xela en camino para San Marcos at 6 in the morning. Maybe the clouds do this every morning and I just miss out since I'm never up at that hour. Either way, it's cool.
What 18 just Quetzales ($2.25) can get you. #ComedorLife
90 degree weather, hotel swimming pool all to myself and Pollo Campero just a fence climb away. One of my tougher days at work.
Taken in Teculután, Zacapa
Hoy solo voy a tomar Para embriagarme Y tal vez olvidar Como yo te amé Como te pude besar Como pude abrazarte ¿De qué me sirve extrañar? Si me embriago te pienso más toda mi vida pasa enfrente y si el último me hará olvidar el último trago lo tomo yo
A beautiful sunset that I was able to capture the other day in-between echando vicio and going to the tienda to buy Ranchitas. For all you Americans that don't know what Ranchitas are, well, SUCKS TO BE YOU.
No clue.
After doing my best uni-bomber impression, I've now officially taken the leap into the multimedia publishing sphere of the internet time-wasting. I've tried my best to resist the impulse to post my every thought on the internet, but over time it's grown increasingly tough, especially considering that my thoughts are awesome. Just kidding, but in reality I already have a blog and hope to keep writing more thorough pieces there, but it's not really the place to put random stuff (and hopefully interesting stuff) that I come across throughout my days. Basically, I'm looking for some stimulation and hope to generate content more frequently thanks to this spastastic format made possible by the INTERNET. Pictures, encoded messages, and some shorter written pieces are all very possible. Hell, maybe even videos, too. This thing does videos, right?
We'll see how this goes.
