Live: STRIVE in ‘reality’
i used to photoshop to place the stive posters and banners into the different sites and places that if it were real you would see it.
From itunes, trains, instgram and spotify.
I think this looks super cool - showing what it could be. I think its look legitmate and doesnt look to out of place. very happy :D
Live: Social media accounts
on photoshop i used the preset layouts to create the front image. I played aorund with positioning of text to ensure each image and text was strong.

Live: Final Conclusion
Overall - I am super happy with the outcome for the project. I think both the still and moving content is strong and in my opinion looks legitimate. I also think i have created content that fits to the target audience and the message this album wants to portray to its listeners.
The prep side of this project was very important. Producing and working alongside DOP Henry Gill - I learnt alot about film and all the important factors that they have - which as photographers you may not have - creating storyboards and kit lists for days.
I had problems finding suitable locations for reasonable price - but I stuck it out and contacted EVERY PLACE in London and in the end Islington Boxing Club was incredible.
Since the start the whole concept and message adapted which meant castings etc had to adjust.
The shoot day went extremely smooth - everyone was extremely professional. We stuck to timings very well, but still had fun and had a good time on set. In terms of direction - as I am used to directing fashion, i felt quite comfortable in their role. I knew what I wanted from the subject and the message and image i wanted her to portray so I enjoyed doing this.
The editing process again was very smooth - I worked with editor Monique Farkas who I have worked with before. She is extremely talented and works very efficiently. I sat with her for 2 days straight and we did the edit and colour grade.
Graphics part - this is really not my forte. I dont have a very good eye when its come to graphics nor do i know the software to use it. So i collabrated with graphic student josh welch - i wanted very simple but still look professional and legitmate. So did research of other posters and CDS to see how they look.
The printing process wasnt extremley smooth sailing - we had to learn how to use the UV printer in uni but after we booked a session and learnt from the technican we got the hang of it. Plus i wasnt sure where to print the booklet - i was looking online and was being quoted 50 - 60 pounds plus for 1 booklet. However in the end i found a place i had used a couple of years ago called mixam which was really good and happy with the quality.
overall challanges i faced :
finding a boxing location for a reasonable price
storyboarding
filling 90 seconds ( we did a 40 second cut which i think works much better for the pace of the video)
graphics + layouts
what would i do differently:
- remember to think that when a video is going to be cut extremly quick that you want ALOTTT of footage to fill 90 seconds.
-possibly could of brought in a set designer to help with the location
- sound designer so i could share it

FINAL POSTER:
Live: drawing of photography lighting for strive
I used a 1200 pack attached to a stand with a white medium size shoot through umbrella facing 45 degrees to the model behind me.
Live: TARGET MARKET
I wanted to do a little bit of text to ensure you understand my target audience and the means behind why i did everything to fit this audience.
My target audience is: any young girl or women that needs a little push to get up and go work out - and give it 100%. It can relate to any work out - running, swimming - in my case i focused on boxing. The message is YOU CAN DO IT - everyone struggles and has to take breaks ( shown in the video) but you always come fighting harder.
I think i have shown this message within the video - it starts a bit slower but builds up and up. After it pauses for the water and breathing break - the girl fights even harder and the power builds up.
As mentioned in another post - the reason the stills are much more posed is because as much as i wanted it to be relatable it still had to be aspirational.
young girls who can watch and see that you can do whatever you want and give it your all -
girls who have a passion for sport -
Girls who have a passion for boxing -
Live: final test + final CD
really happy with the outcome: I had to reprint the platter and inner picture as the first time print was a low qaulity. This time I printed on matte on pagewide printer and the quality is much better.
Live: Compare posed stills to moving film
I wanted to explain why the images i took for the booklet and poster are much more posed compared to the intensivity and fast paced film.
images:
compared to video ( screenshots):
I DID THIS ON PURPOSE The fast pace intensitiy of the video matched together with the more posed images really fits the whole idea of the STRIVE and the aspiration for the target audience. The aspiration that YES anyone can work out and be their best and give it everything they have BUT also aspiring TO BE confident in yourself and the way you look. Sarai is a beautiful face( but also looks like the girl next door ) - this will inspire young girls or anyone to get up and motivate themselves.
I did my research and when you look at other fitness/ motivation albums they all show subjects that are aspiring to people and that make people want to better themsevles.
Live : Cost list
what this project cost me:
I really tried to do it as low of a budget as possible - the location was super kind with his fee, especially as i was been quoted MUCH MUCH higher by other places. Plus the food i did catered because i knew if i didnt then it would of cost me way more ( by ordering on the day). Overall i am very happy with the project so the money paid off.
Printing on a CD:
So myself and another classmate decided to take a trip up to level 9 prototyping to the UV printer to print on a sticky paper which then we put on the CD.
The first time up there we didnt realise that you had to book online to use the printer - so we had to book for the following day and then we were taught how to use it.
live project: ordering booklet
I have decided to go to Mixam to order my booklet. I wanted the quality to be very good and I have used Mixam before and was pleased. Plus they are reasonably priced.
this is the layout of the booklet - in the order of images.
ordered off mixam:
live project: poster
This is the A3 album cover poster. I did my research and looked into other abums posters to see what kinda of writing/ text they showed. They were usually very mininally with a large title of the artist or album ( or both). Some included a quote. And depending on the genre - some showed the tour dates for the artist. Other showed songs included in the album.
options we created: using illustrator and with help from my graphic friend Joshua Welch we created this. Very simple but I think looks very professional and believable. I think the colours within the compostion work very well as well.
printed - A3 on semi gloss designjet paper.
live project: CD platter layout

platter cover
I did a test print in uni - just semi gloss paper with the printers. I think it looks super cool. This was only a rough test but for an initial start i am pleased.

Live project: editing process
after the shoot day - the editor monique farkas took my hardrive and transfered all the files from the hardrive across to hers. We sat day and started editing Strive.
The struggle was the 90 second marker - for a promo video and with the pace of mine i found it a little tough. However, with monique we came up with ways to extend it as much as possible and still look the way I wanted.
I hoped for it to be very speedy, upbeat, youthful and motivating and I really like that is the way it has come out!
We also worked on the colour grading - I wanted the colours to be quite strong but I also liked the shadows of the natural light. Below shows the difference with colour grading. As you can see colour grading is extremely important.
here is the 90 second clip for strive:
https://vimeo.com/270186078/befe1ebf7a
I am super happy with the outcome. My invision of how it would look is exactly how it has come out. Sarai ( model/ actress) gave it everything and she was amazing - the sweat by the end of it was REAL! The film crew were amazing and really fun to work with ( as it was my first time working with them) and the monique the editor - smashed it as always.
