''Well...'' The Pride begun, softly clearing her throat with a smile.. ''Once upon a time, there lived a little mermaid. She was the youngest of four sisters, and daughter of the Sea King. On their sixteenth birthdays, the mermaids were allowed to take a look at the land above, so the young mermaid had always heard stories of her sisters trip above the sea. She became fascinated by the human world..-'' Hannah was shortly interrupted when she made a little spin in his arms and almost bumped into him, got a little too close. ''-so, on her sixteenth birthday, the little mermaid swam to the surface. There, she spotted a big ship. On it, a handsome prince. Staring up at him from the sea, the mermaid instantly fell in love. When the ship had harbored in a town, the little mermaid returned to the sea, to her family. Desperate to see him again she fret for days, until she was visited by a sea witch. The witch said she could grant her wish and giver her legs so she could win the love of the prince. In payment however the mermaid had to give the witch her voice. If she could win the love of the prince, she would give her voice back.-'' Another spin. ''-And so the little mermaid became a human. She was sent to shore and washed on on a beach. When she tried to make a step however, she collapsed, for walking on her new feet felt like walking on knives for her. After a while she was found by no one other than the prince. He immediately took her in and it the days that followed they became very close with one another, despite the mermaid not being able to talk. She loved him very much, and danced with him every night. Even though walking was still very painful.'' Hannah paused shortly, building up tension for the story. She loved telling stories.''After a month, a ship arrived in the town, carrying a family connected to the prince's. The family had sent their daughter to represent them and she was sent out to meet the prince. There was a spark right away. That night, the prince only danced with the girl. and even though he cared for the mermaid, who could still not speak her mind, he fell hopelessly in love with the foreign girl. They soon married. The little mermaid was heartbroken and refused to walk again, she sat by the seashore for days and wept. On the third day though, her sisters showed themselves on the surface. They presented the little mermaid a dagger. If she'd kill the prince and his new bride with it and sprinkled the blood on her feet, it would give her a tail again and she could return home. The mermaid rushed to the chamber of the newlyweds but when she saw them lying there, she couldn't bring herself to do it, for she loved the prince too much. She once again returned to the seashore. Stabbing herself in the heart and turned into sea foam..'' A long pause followed. Hannah loved this story. She truly did. ''See, the reason I like it is because it doesn't have a happy ending, in the end the prince doesn't fall in love with her and trades her for his wife. It's violent, yet romantic and still it doesn't have a happy ending. I like the message too. She gives up her entire life for one guy, and in the end that's her downfall..'' The girl looked up at her date, curious of his response. Strangely, she'd smiled the whole time while telling the story. ''I hope this wasn't too long of a story for you.'' She laughed.
