The festivals ive been to so far just rlly lack ambience to me. I think this is me playing too much Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on free play as a kid but when I think of a festival i think of the aesthetic the most, not shopping. I think of the atmosphere of being there, surrounded by ppl in a themed event we are experiencing together for fun. And i just think that a bunch of tents and food trucks w their insanely loud generators lined up on a street is just not atmosphere.

Like why not engage the crowd to do things and experience an enhanced scenery? Like with portable or temporary art installations, interactive signs, popup games. Omg the use of verticle space is hardly ever utilized enough! Things like string lights, garlands and banners are so, so good at making a space feel more themed and human-scale.

I know festivals cost big money (which we made that shit up btw lol) and i think ive only experienced small town festivals yea i expect too much from them ig but the artist in me and former tycoon girlie in me really feels like "festival" is almost like a loaded term. T_T I need to vent this out in a drawing ....

#ya mean? like....#i can think of so many different ways my city can engage a crowd more than w just live bands and bouncy houses and food trucks #and its all so simple to do
