This vid was well written. Very interesting british perspective on dubstep that i learned a lot from as someone from the US. I got into dubstep around 2011, also in my earlier formative yrs, and introduced to "brostep" that i genuinely loved, including Skrillex h a h a.

YT algorithms introduced me to UK dubstep primarily via, Hot Flush Recordings, and artists like, Scuba, which I liked, too, but I was completely removed from culturally and contextually. I discovered Burial around 2012 or 2013 and loved his music (though I dont have as much poetic things to say abt his iconic albums other than I rlly liked them. I admire when ppl have a way w words abt their passions. A n y w a y lol).

I didnt delve as deep into music production and def didnt know of any "scenes" bc i was an anxious introvert w kinda strict parents living in a suburban hellhole. Not to mention my manu sensory sensitivities that made living vicariously thru club goers on videos more appealing than being there. I also tended to listen to music on repeat for months on end, repeating tracks for hours in the order i found them in, and only finding new tunes much later.

Its nice to see someome retell their passion for dubstep w more involved and detailed experiences. I learned a lot of new artists that ill def have to check out eventually and saw a few featured in the vid that made me feel like a real fan l o l l l l l.

I heard the vaporwave version first. Absolutely ethereal vibes. I love how u cant quite make out what the singer is saying. And then the saxophone and that almost air jet takeoff noise. Just awesome mixing all around to create a completely different vibe than the original thats more atmospheric and dreamy.

The original is great too. The lyrics are fun and the key signature is just so jazzy. Makes u wanna get up and swing.
