This is a collaborative project in an attempt to portray a visual story about William Afton and the rocky path of learning what it truly means to face the consequences of his actions - the right way this time. Happiest Day AU

Who are we?

We are two adult nerd artists and close friends who are passionate about fnaf, its lore and bastard rats with issues and have a knack for angsty redemption arc stories :D

You can find our respective art on instagram under the usernames chubs_deuce (me, Lucie - she/her) and aestheticallytrashyart (Olivia - they/them)!

What is this AU about?

This AU will be about a slightly canon-divergent alternate timeline to fnaf, where William will - after some confrontations - end up seeking a means of redeeming himself for his crimes. Henry, Michael and Charlie aka the Marionette/Puppet alongside Cassidy will play key roles in his development and each get development themselves too. It's going to be a long and rocky road with no guarantee of success. - we may love us a good redemption arc, but we won't pull punches, this is a child serial killer we're talking about after all.

Small note: while we've done plenty of research to keep this story as compliant to canon as we can despite the intentional creative liberties that make this an AU, we will not factor in information from the Fazbear Frights books on account of neither of us having read them. Any similarities between their stories and ours are coincidental and any contradictions entirely unintentional.

We don't really have a set schedule, so we're pretty much posting as we go to not stress about deadlines - but we are currently in the process of trying to work ahead of time so we can possibly switch to a set schedule at some point. We'll drop an info post on here if anything changes.

Good news!

We're closing in on the last 6 pages of the first set of updates we planned on having finished before we begin updating again (we will be at 33 pages total once those last 6 are fully rendered, Isn't that crazy???)

Now I'd like you to keep in mind about some of the things we are going to be including in this comic, both directly and indirectly.

So, because I care about people's wellbeings and every person's freedom to filter content they do not wish to see, have here a comprehensive list of topics/things that are planned to be included sooner or later and will be tagged with a #cw insert thing type of tag in posts that include relevant pages so you may block them as needed before we actually start posting:

A small update, because contrary to popular belief, this blog is not dead yet! :'D

After an inarguably long and involuntary break due to burning ourselves out with fnaf content, certain controversies coming and going as well as our private lives going crazy, we have at last been able to pick up on it again!

We have - since our last update - revised our plot and not only properly reworked our older page sketches, but also worked ahead with more and are currently at over 50 page sketches waiting to be finished up, 14 of which already are and plenty more to come still. :)

However... you unfortunately won't get to see them for another while due to us having mutually agreed on working ahead a bit for the sake of keeping up the momentum while it lasts and to build up a buffer in updates that we'll release over time. This should help us minimize the need for longer pauses while we work on the next sets of pages without rushing them.

We will need the extra time, considering we're only two hobby artists doubling as writers, with this project being rather elaborate and detail oriented, and thus unfortunately rather time consuming to produce. If it means anything to you though, we were aiming for about 5 updates worth of pages as a backlog and are halfway there already ^^.

Your interest in what we do and saint-like patience honestly means the world to us, and we hope to be able to make up for the long wait with content we're well and truly proud of soon.

Update time!

For the sake of transparency and seeing the influx of followers to this blog recently I'd like to give a little update to make sure you guys know that this project is not dead!

I have to confess that our progress on this has stagnated a bit.

But!

We sat down and discussed some things as to how we'll proceed with this project from here on out! One of the main issues we're facing right now is that both of us are self-taught artists and not the most experienced when it comes to big comic projects like this, so going straight from the story outline to perfectly visualised panels with good flow is actually much trickier than we initially anticipated.

Our current plan is to write out the story in a more fanfiction novel-like way first, fill in overlooked plot-holes and fix pacing issues we may encounter along the way, to later help guide our visuals and dialogue when we get to the art part. It's much easier to reimagine a detailed source material than come up with it based on rough bullet-points :'D

This might end up taking longer than doing it the way we worked previously, but I'm positive that it will help us immensely to not get stuck again and hopefully avoid these huge gaps of silence in the future once the written story is done.

I'm really sorry about the long wait, we just want this project to be as good as we know it can be rather than rush it and end up doing a bad job with it.

Quick Update

So, my co-creator and I have been hard at work for the past couple of weeks, and I am proud to announce that we officially have the storyline all planned out and ready to go!!!

Our next steps will be planning out some important pieces of dialogue, and then we’ll be able to move onto the thumbnail sketching stage.

I think I speak for everyone working on it when I say that we are all incredibly excited to be making progress and we hope you’ll stay tuned to see it through!

progress report

We’ve come to realize that we might have published the first couple of pages a bit early :’D

real life got in the way of things a little and hindered some progress but we’re far from dead and not going to give up on this project!

So!

Here’s some stats:

We’ve detailedly written out roughly two thirds of the plot and planned out upcoming conversations, figured out some backstory concepts and started work on a neat little easter egg we plan on hiding throughout the story! Our 3 documents on the AU are currently at 10150 words and going.

We have also conceptualized some character designs (The Fazbear’s Fright nightguard and the MCI victims as well as their spirit forms for example) and collected a bunch of references for later use - like this fnaf 3 location map:

There’s a lot we have in store for you in this story and while I know the artistic progress is incredibly slow, I’m really hoping that it will be worth the wait.

Brief little update:

We've been doing a lot of behind the scenes work in favor of building the plot and writing down a story outline as well as roughly planning the dialogue and some thumbnails for the comic - that way we won't get stuck as much the further we progress with the art. We're not finished with the written outline just yet, but definitely got a big chunk done!

We'll work more on the actual artworks for the next pages soon though, I promise :'D
