#1 DUMBLEDORE AND GRINDELWALD
So i just finished watching The Secrets of Dumbledore and the thing that got to me the most was how fucking much these two love each other. Every scene they share is filled with passion and intensity. Maybe I'm seeing what I want to see, but the duel scene was just so real and intense.
All through the movie, every time Dumbledore spoke of his love for Grindelwald it was like he was dismissively intense. He appeared very calm, as Dumbledore usually does, but there was still passion there. (The actor delivers it very well).
Their chemistry was mesmerizing to me. The duel scene was... Indescribable? I mean, there's just so much at stake for both of them, and they are fighting with everything they've got. It's war, and one moment of hesitation will tip the scale, will change absolutely everything, and then- they both hesitate. They both feel each other. They both know that the other one could take everything with just that one second of hesitation, but they still stopped at each others touch. Looking and feeling one another's hand above their hearts.
That one moment where they stop to just feel and see is like they are delivering one of the most known dialogues of the entire Harry Potter world without saying a word:
"after all this time?" "always."
I mean, how long ago were they in love? And how much, exactly, they were both full of shit in the previous scenes? Talking as if their love is something of the past, trying to convince themselves it was, and then being face to face; breaking the spell that didn't allow them to go against each other, and not being able to do it.
Grindelwald is a fanatic, a murderer and a lunatic. But he loves ? Dumbledore has the entire future of the Wizarding World, and the Muggle World, resting in his shoulders. But he loves ?
And if we stop to remember the books, didn't both of them still kept those feelings until the very end? I don't remember right now, but didn't Grindelwald feel Dumbledore's death in the books?
It actually surprised me when Grindelwald stopped and didn't strike when Dumbledore hesitated. He is very capable of killing people and seems to not actually care for anyone else. His goal has been set for years and nothing could stay in his way, but he is in love(?) Am i wrong about seeing this this way? Did their hesitation come from something else? Because it just seems way too romantic for this fanatic, obsessive ambitious man to just let everything go, even for a second, just because he's still in love.
But if I'm not wrong, and that's what it is, how fucking beautiful is that? Not to mention the camera angles: going from one hand, one heart, one look, to another. Showing the intensity and desire they both feel for each other- no words.
That's the type of love i want to write about. That's the level of passion i want to transmit to anyone who either sees, reads or watches my creations. Frankly, if is not to love someone like these two love each other, then why love at all?
