Introductions are going well so far! Fingers crossed they stay that way.

Cage set up for my two boars, post introduction. I expanded it from a 2x4 to a 2x5 C and C cage. I couldn’t find coroplast in my area, so I used a shower curtain as a base, with 3 ‘for rent’ signs for the floor. I ziptied the shower curtain up for the walls.  Then I put down two towels, and used two fleece blankets since one wasn’t long enough for the whole cage. Inside, I added a fleece forest, 2 cereal boxes cut into tunnels, a ‘fun tunnel’ without the fluff, a willow tunnel, a little fleece blanket i made by tying the ends together, 2 hay racks, 2 soap dishes I use as food bowls, 2 water bottles, 2 balls, and a bunch of chew toys.

I hope the boys like their new cage, and that I don’t have to tear it apart if they don’t get along well!

Update

The pigs are doing great! Ivan is getting more confident every day, and let me pet him in his cage this morning without running to hide! I took him to the vet for his free check up (another perk of adopting from a shelter), and she said he looks very healthy. Mikhail is settling in slowly, but he ate most of his vegetables today, and is being more vocal, so I’m taking it as a good sign. I’m so proud of them!

New Pig!

I adopted a guinea pig from Turtle Hill Animal Sanctuary yesterday! I’ve named him Mikhail, Mickey for short. He’s almost 2 months old. I’ll post pics once he gets a bit more settled in!

Of Course

The day before I drive and hour and a half away to look at pigs at a guinea pig rescue, the local shelter 20 minutes away gets three adorable baby boars. At least I know I’ll have options!

Hello!

Today, I adopted an American guinea pig from the shelter where I volunteered, and plan on adopting a friend for him very soon. I’ll be using this side blog to connect to other guinea pig owners and share what  I do to a) brag and b) get advice. This will be a new foray into guinea pig ownership since having them as a kid, so if you have advice, I would love to hear it as long as you are polite. Mostly this blog will be to show pictures of my adorable guinea pigs!

Ivan’s first floor time at home! I laid out some toys and hides, as well as his fresh veggies for the evening: cilatro, red romaine lettuce, and red peppers. He likes the peppers and cilantro the best :)
