This is the last week of Happy Jarry Holidays!!
The prompts for this week are: RAINBOW Pride, Togetherness, Community, Delight…
I’ve got a few things planned for this week - so stay tuned!
The whole plan for this week was to celebrate jarry on the same week as Chester pride. While I know that holding up Hollyoaks as a bastion of queer representation is a bit disingenuous at the moment, these prompts were planned before we even knew about Sadie, let alone everything else. But even though canon has destroyed the dreams we had for this pairing, this doesn't take away from the joy we had - both from the amazing scenes we had on screen and all the fabulous fanworks that James and Harry/Parry and Greg inspired, and the community of people that loved them.
So let’s celebrate that!

Written for @happyjarryholidays . Prompt: Green: Nature, Growth, Envy…
Summary: James builds a nursery for Isaac.
They agree to take things slowly.
It’s for James’s benefit, as much as his own, but Harry can’t help but notice how every meeting between the two of them has been carefully constructed to make Harry feel as comfortable as possible. Their dates are only even held in public places – The Bean, The Hutch, The Dog – with Harry acutely aware of the eyes watching them, waiting to step in should James put so much of a toe out of line. Conversation topics have been selected beforehand and James always seems to be sticking to a safe script of questions to ask Harry. They talk about films (always a shared love, even if their tastes remain wildly different), music, the food, their families… James even asks him about the football season and how well Harry’s team is doing. He’s making a real effort, and it shows.
Harry can’t decide if he’s annoyed or oddly charmed by James’s insistence that they date to a formula. He almost feels like they’re a courting couple in a Restoration romance like in the novels that James hides under the bed. They can’t go anywhere without a chaperone. They can’t stay out past eleven pm. They can’t touch bare skin above the wrist… It’s frustrating, and frankly upsetting, to Harry who genuinely meant it when he said, ‘I want things to go back to the way they were between us.’ But James has always been feet-first when it comes to Harry, and the restraint he is showing now only proves how much he wants to repair the damage he wrought.
So, they date – outside and in the open so that anyone can intervene the moment Harry feels even the slightest bit uncomfortable. He doesn’t. He might be mad, but he doesn’t.
It takes him a few weeks to persuade James to take him back to the flat. James eventually relents but makes a big show of ensuring that either Marnie or Romeo is there. Harry makes an equally big show of saying how much he misses being home and how he wants to be alone with James and how it’s funny that James is being so cautious with him when Harry is a big boy who can make his own decisions.
“It’s not just you though – is it?” James says quietly, hiding his ashamed eyes in his wine glass.
He’s got a point. There’s Isaac to think of now.

6 and 17 are “Friends to lovers + Sex then love”, and I feel that’s pretty much what happened in canon, so I made it an AU where Harry is an intern at James’ law firm.

WhenHarry starts the internship, he isn‘t sure what to expect. If he isquite honest with himself, he was sure he wouldn’t get the positionanyway. Nightingale Legal is one of the most prestigious law firms inthe county, and most of his course mates applied there aswell, soHarry was really surprised to be accepted.
Hehasn’t met James Nightingale, the owner and most famous lawyer,yet, having been interviewed by his mother, the head of HR, and nowon his first day, he is really nervous.
He isdesperate to make a good impression, having heard that James can beruthless and mean, and he really hopes that he won’t mess this up.
When hefinally sees him then, he is rendered speechless for a second. Heheard of James’ reputation, of course, but no one mentioned howhandsome the man is. The undoubtedly expensive suit hugs hisfigure just right, and that beard… Harry imagines how it would feelagainst his thighs, and yeah, not an appropriate though for meetingyour new boss for the first time.
Belatedly,Harry offers his hand, and James must have noticed him staring,because he seems slightly amused, his gaze raking over Harry’s bodyand his hand lingering far longer than necessary for a simplehandshake.
“Harry”,he says, and wow, Harry didn’t know that his name could be saidlike that. It sounds intimate and promising, and god, he is soscrewed.
“Mr.Nightingale”, he replies, and his boss smiles.
“Please,call me James.”

This is my entry for @happyjarryholidays Pride: week one. I picked the theme of danger (as well as red). I was meant to write smut for @ivymaples but I’m awful so this will have to do. Soz.

Harry, the greatest gladiator in Rome, has been training to fight, kill and survive the Great Games since was a child. James, the most hated son of the emperor, has been learning to lie, hide and survive life in the Imperial Palace for as long as he has lived. Their lives collide when the emperor brings Harry init his household, as his personal gladiator.
