OPEN STARTER // FOR ANYONE
— Jamie let out the biggest sigh as she waited for her coffee. it wasn’t directed to the staff but more so she was just letting out the frustration she had inside. While yes she kind of liked teaching art, she rather being doing something else entirely but hey that’s what she gets for taking the job. After receiving her order, she walked and was exiting the cafe when she saw something in the ground. Turning to the person closest to her, she tapped their shoulder to get their attention. “Hey sorry but is this yours? I just saw it on the floor.”
“What?” Harold asked, turning and looking at the object in the woman’s hands and then at her face. She seemed somewhat familiar, “No, it’s not. Perhaps give it into the lost and found,” He said, pointing toward the counter in the coffee shop.
lilyarmstrongs:
“How do you know you wouldn’t be good at writing? You haven’t tried it yet! I’d have faith in you.”
“It’s not really my thing,” Harold raised an eyebrow at her, “You don’t even know me.”
lilyarmstrongs:
Lily paused, pursing her lips in thought, “Ah! A ghost writer! That’s a thing, right? You can hire one of those!”
“Honestly, I don’t think I will. In the unlikely chance that my casino goes out of business, I’ll just find another way to earn my keep. Something I’m good at.”
rubyxtalbot:
“You may be right about that,maybe I should start working on my self control”
“More people should really.”

“How do you know that when you haven’t even thought about it?”
“I’m not much of a writer,” Harold said simply.
lilyarmstrongs:
“Well, of course no one plans too but isn’t it apart of every business to have plenty of back up plans?”
“Sure but I don’t think a book will be one of them,” Harold said, shrugging. He also had all the side businesses that took place in the back of the casino in the office. That was something no one could ever know about.
lilyarmstrongs:
“I’m just saying if the whole casino buisness thing goes, you’ve got a very easy backup!”
“I’m sure but I have no plans to let it go out of business.”
rubyxtalbot:
“I didn’t turn it off because of e-mails, I was afraid to turn it off in case I got an important one from somebody who didn’t have my number.”
“Then really it’s just about your lack of self-control.”

“The Sixth Sense. It’s just up a few blocks and to the right.”
“That’s on the way to my casino,” Harold said, “Which is where I’m headed. Handy.”

“I really didn’t think of it due to being so far gone into the videos.”
“Then why didn’t you turn it off before that?”

“I have to keep my phone on just in case I get a call, turning off the wifi might be better.”
“Then do that. The answer seems pretty simple to me.”

“Oh my god, you’re writing a book about this, aren’t you? You’re sitting on book making gold.”
“No, I’m not writing a book. I’m too busy running a casino.”
“It was only meant to be a short break from correcting papers,but I somehow went down the rabbit hole of watching animal videos,please take my phone from me so I don’t get distracted anymore.”
“Why don’t you just turn it off?”

“Well I wouldn’t, what you want is still a mystery to me.” Mallory commented as he looked to her father for a brief moment. “Home- no point in telling you where that is since you’ve already stalked me there once before.”
“I’ve made what I want clear, sweetheart, you just don’t believe me,” Harold said, “It wasn’t stalking, it was trying to get to know you. Also this is a small town, it wasn’t very hard to find out.”

“You’re joking- you must be joking!” Lily’s mouth gaped, putting her cup down as she stared at the other. “Did they really do that?”
“I don’t really do jokes,” Harold said, “I do own a casino. You’d be surprised what you witness there.”
“I hope this doesn’t involve razor-blades.”
