Everyone had been working hard. The training. The mission. The tension. Had finally gotten to everyone. And finally they had time to relax. So everyone decided, what better way to relax than at the Hard Deck.
The noise of laughs and chatter filled the corner of the Hard Deck, that the Dagger squad had unofficially reserved as theirs.
"Anyone need a refill?" You asked from your little perch on the barstool next to Bob.
A chorus of 'Yes please' came from the pilots, and so you got up giving Bob a small kiss and made your way to the bar waiting to be served by Penny.
Standing at the bar, it was admittedly busy tonight so you weren't expecting to be served straight away. For a while you stood alone, until you felt a presence standing a bit too close. Uncomfortably close. Looking up at the suspect, you saw a younger sailor. Not a pilot. A sailor.
"Well hellooo there gorgeous." The guy spoke, obviously drunk,
"May I get you a drink." He continued.
You gave him a polite smile, hoping he would leave eventually.
"No, thank you. Ensign. Im already grabbing drinks..." You responded turning back to look for Penny.
"Hey c'mon im sure your friends wont mind. You are gorgeous c'mon let me give you one." He spoke slurring his words, and getting even closer. His hips uncomfortably close, even after you shifted.
This was not what you wanted. You felt uncomfortable and gross. This guy was gross. So you looked to the Dagger squad, hoping that someone would be looking.
"Oh c'mon sweetheart dont worry about them." His hands grabbed your waist and despite trying to push them off they gripped tighter.
"Get your hands off me!" You spoke loudly hoping to attract attention.
And as quickly as that. He was shoved into the bar by a force that neither of you realised, making a harsh cracking noise.
"They said HANDS OFF!" Bob spoke with such an authoritative voice, that crickets could be heard in the Hard Deck.
Bob had this guy pinned against the bar, the feet of the ensign lifting off the ground slightly. Phoenix grabbed your arm gently, pulling you out of the situation as Rooster and Hangman backed Bob up.
"Penny, this gentleman is no longer welcome here. May we chuck him out?" Rooster asked Penny, who had now come to the commotion.
"Get him out." Penny agreed, watching the boys to make sure a fight wasnt started.
Bob's eyes were dark with rage. Despite Bob only being 6ft, he towered over this ensign. And what most forget is the physical strength a pilot or WSO needs in the cockpit.
"Touch someone like that again, I will personally make sure you will not have a career in the Navy anymore." Bob growled low enough for only the ensign to hear.
"Let 'em go now Bobby" Hangman instructed Bob, placing a gently hand on Bob's shoulder. It took a moment for it to get into Bob's brain. But eventually he dropped the ensign, who only just caught himself.
Hangman and Rooster escorted the ensign out of the bar, whilst Bob stalked his way over to you. He holds his hands out gently, letting you decide if you wanted to be touched before wrapping his arms around you softly.
"Are you okay?" He asked quietly,
"I am now. He didn't want to leave me alone. So glad you're here." You spoke laying your head on Bob's chest. His heat rate going a mile a minute.
The Hard Deck slowly went back to normal, the music continued playing and eventually he calmed down.
"I've never seen you angry before." You mumbled,
"Never had to... did I scare you?" He asked a little worried to if he scared you.
"No... you saved me. You could never scare me." You responded, laying your head back down.
For the rest of the evening, you stayed close to Bob. Letting the rest of the squad go and get drinks as they pleased, a few asking you both if you preferred a stiff drink after what happened.
But for now, you stayed in his arms now understanding that even if Bob was quiet. He would be there as a quiet knight in shining armour. Ready to do anything to protect you.
bret federigan: lewis, do you remember your first credit?
lewis: is it the tutor?
bret federigan: it is the tutor.
lewis: that is with my best friend graham parks who i've done many shorts with. i grew up with him and we actually are making our first feature that he's directing in a couple of months. so, it's come full circle.
bret federigan: did you in 2013, when you made that drama short, ever imagine that you'd be making a full feature fil with him?
lewis: we hoped and we dreamed but obviously we're skeptic about it. so, we're both kind of like -- consistently texting each other, being like "are you still -- can you still believe this is actually happening?" and i'm like -- it's not happening until it's happening. so let's just not get too excited.

Bob had invited you and Daisy to the base for the day. There was training going on and he knew you loved taking photos of planes. This time you had a little girl to keep an eye out for. Daisy was 6 now and was just as obsessed with planes as her dad. Already knowing all the names of the planes her dad flies and what her Aunts and Uncles fly.
It was an early Tuesday morning, too early for little Daisy. Bob picked her tired little body up and bought her into the kitchen.
"C'mon flower, you gotta have some breakfast. Remember we're going to my work to see some planes today." Bob spoke softly placing Daisy's body on the chair.
You placed a bowl of cereal in front of Daisy and continued getting a packed lunch ready for the day. Daisy slowly started eating, and slowly started waking up. Bob had his breakfast and went back to the bedroom putting his flight suit on.
"C'mon darling let's get you ready." You picked Daisy up and carried her back to her room.
"What do you wanna wear today? Wanna match daddy?" You asked softly,
"Please mama, and can you do my hair like Auntie Nix's please?" Daisy asked already getting her hair brush.
"Of course, we'll do your teeth and get dressed first and then I'll do your hair." You responded and started to get Daisy ready. Her hair was soft like Bob's, very fine and easy to brush through. Putting her hair up in a bun, you grabbed her glasses and put them on.
"Go see daddy to put your boots on sweet." You spoke watching her run off towards Bob in her tiny flight suit.
You stood up and went to go get changed. It was a nice day, warm, sunny the perfect spring feeling. So it was shorts and one of Bobby's NAVY T-shirts which was certainly big on you.
Walking back out into the living room. Daisy was in Bobby's arms, still slowly waking up.
"Right, everyone got everything?" You asked, checking the bag you had packed the night before.
"Yes mama. I even have my dog tags." Daisy's voice came out, muffled by Bobby's flight suit where she had nuzzled into his shoulder. You smiled softly and ushered everyone out of the door to the car.
Despite the drive to the hangers only being short. Daisy had fallen asleep.
"She woke me up last night." Bob spoke softly as he drove.
"Did she? Was she okay?" You asked worried,
"Just dreams again, it's alright sweetie." Bob responded as he focused on the road.
Eventually, you had all made it to the base. Finding a shady but good spot to watch the rest of dagger squad work on their flying drills. Carrying Daisy, Bob sat her in his lap and placed her ear defenders on her little head.
"Is that okay flower?" Bob asked,
"Huh?" Daisy responded looking up at him. Not even realising he was addressing her, as she stared at the planes starting up with a thunderous roar. Bob huffed and rubbed her back, pulling her gently against his chest as they watched the planes.
You sat next to them with your camera, hoping to take some good shots of the squad pulling some high G maneuvers. Testing your photography abilities.
"Is that uncle Roo?" Daisy asked as she watched Roosters plane taxi past,
"It sure is sweetie, look mama managed to get a photo of him in the cockpit." Bob spoke qs you showed her the small screen on your camera.
"Woah mama that so cool!" Her little voices squealed as she watched with deep intent as Rooster pushed to full thrusters in the jet and took off. The roar of the engines shaking the ground and the feeling travelling up into your bodies.
After hours of watching the squad pull harsh maneuvers in the jet, they broke for lunch and landed with a gently squeak of the wheel. Once it was safe, Bob led you and Daisy to the hangers to see the team.
"AUNTIE NIXXXXXX" Daisy screamed at the top of her lungs and ran to Phoenix as soon as Bob put her down.
"Look auntie Nix I dressed like you and daddy today!"
Phoenix picked her up and span Daisy around with a big smile on her face.
"Well well my little bestie you look absolutely amazing today, I think you can take over your dad's job dont you think?" Phoenix spoke with a gentle laugh,
Daisy nods "Uh huh"
"Hey mini Floyd, where's my hugs? Nat cant be getting all of them." Spoke a voice coming out of another plane,
Hangman came walking over with his usual bravado that he carries, but his face with a softer more kinder look than his normal smirk.
Daisy squirmed and held her hands out for Hangman.
"Everyone get hug" Daisy spoke and she clung between hangman and Phoenix.
"Okay okay that's fair mini Floyd." Hangman spoke giving a smile,
"Were you watching us fly? Do you think im better than auntie Nix?" Hangman spoke with his male bravado showing through again.
Daisy did not hesitate.
"No, Auntie Nix is better."
The shock on Hangmans face was picture perfect, one that you actually took a photo of. Bob and Nat tried stifling a laugh which was not working, and Jake looked at them.
"C'mon mini Floyd." Jake groaned trying to get on daisy's good side,
"What can I say dude? Kids are just outright brutal." Bob laughed,
"She's gotten me before to say the least." Bob continued.
As the light starts to fade over fighter town and the evening starts to set, a family dinner of you, Bob, daisy, hangman, Phoenix and Rooster is included on the breeze of the summer evening. The setting sun leads into a quiet night where Bob carries Daisy to bed letting her sleep for the night.
Eventually everyone goes back to their homes. And you and Bob lay on the bed half asleep, until he pulls you gently into his arms and relaxes entirely.
"She's growing up so fast Bobby." You mumbled sleepily,
"I know... we keep her small as long as we can yeah?" Bob responded equally as tired and nuzzled into your neck. Letting out a huff and his entire body weight weighed down on you.
Do you know that audio on TikTok that’s like I made love to my wife 4 times and this morning she made pancakes and whatnot? Could you do a story where it’s the daggers and this is how they find out about bobs wife?

Bob stood beside Natasha in comfortable silence as they dressed in the appropriate gear, ready for a test flight.
They instinctively turned to face one another when the other needed help attaching a certain piece to their suit or tightening their straps. They had grown un-deniably close over the past two years, and they knew each other’s movements step by step.
Natasha’s eyebrows raised, and she let out a small groan. “Here they come.”
Bob’s breath hitched as he heard the booming voices coming through the door.
Javy sauntered in, with Jake on his heels, both snickering about something like schoolboys.
“Oh, Jake, you wouldn’t believe it.” They both swung open their lockers in sync. At a glance, you wouldn’t think that they flew separately. They were so similar as they mirrored the movements of getting their gear on.
“I made love to her four times last night. This morning, I got pancakes. She woke up at six to make them for me before I left. God, I fuckin’ love my wife.”Javy boasted with prideful laughter.
Jake only spurred him on, with a proud slap on his back and matched Javy’s amusement.
However, at Javy’s confession, Natasha snorted quietly to herself.
Jake’s head cocked to the right of him and his eyebrows raised with a questioning glance her way. He leaned back against the lockers containing their gear and attached some to himself.
“What’s so funny, Nat? You tellin’ me you could beat Javy’s record?” Jake questioned her with a smug grin pulling at the corners of his mouth.
By this time, Mickey, Rueben, and Bradley had all filtered into the room as well. They didn’t want to interrupt the ego-boosting feud that was currently unfolding in front of them. They geared up in silence but still listened with eager ears, their eyes flicking back and forth between Jake and Natasha.
She took a sharp breath between her teeth and broke Jake’s questioning gaze. She purposefully didn’t look back at the guys but calmly stated, “Well, I made love to my wife six times, and yeah, I also got breakfast.”
The silence from them both was telling. She continued fixing her gear and calmly played off her triumphant feat. It was as though it was the most normal thing in the world for her (which wasn’t far off).
She heard Bradley’s hushed whistle of “Oof,” and she smiled proudly to herself as she looked down to see where she was fiddling with a buckle on her suit.
Bob, on the other hand, had watched the entire exchange before him, with bated breath. His eyes were wide behind his glasses, and the corner of his lips twitched into a grin as he saw Jake and Javy’s bewildered faces.
If only they knew how good you were for him last night. If only they knew how pretty you looked on your knees and spread out on the soft linen, all for himself. If only they knew how pretty you sounded, as you whimpered and whined his name all—
“Bob!” Jake’s biting tone snapped his attention straight towards the blonde-haired man. “You’re lookin’ smug for a guy, who, as far as we know, hasn’t been laid in… two years?” He questioned with faux interest.
Natasha immediately belted out an amused, “Ha!”
She knew Bob better than anyone here. She had met you, Bob’s long-time wife. Natasha and her wife had been to dinner with Bob and you. She had been to BBQs in your backyard and tried your delicious home-cooked macaroni and cheese. You were even invited to her bachelorette party when she got married.
Natasha also knew that no one else knew.
Bob was private about his life away from the naval base. He had his reasons, but more than anything, he appreciated the peace he shared with his one love. You.
Jake’s jeering and deeply imposing question made his eye twitch a little from behind his glasses. He pushed his frames up the bridge of his nose with his index finger, before looping his hands into the gear on his chest. He puffed out his chest slightly and stood confidently across from Jake.
“Well? You got a wife?” Jake asked the question carelessly and casually, making Bob squirm. He severely despised people thinking about his wife like that, as if you weren’t the moon to his sun.
A beat, and Bob responded. “Yeah.”
Javy’s mouth fell open in disbelief. Mickey and Ruben had turned around to watch the whole thing by then. They nudged one another in the ribs and whispered, “I told you so!”
Bradley didn’t flinch. He knew. He saw Bob and you on the beach one evening. Bob gave him a curt nod, and when he arrived at the Navy base the next morning, Bradley swore he wouldn’t tell anyone. He understood, more than anyone, why people kept their private lives away from here.
Jake snorted, although he blinked furiously as Bob’s statement took him aback. “Okay then, Baby, how many times did you make love to them last night?”
He crossed his arms over his broad chest in an attempt to shield himself from perhaps being scolded by Bob Floyd.
“Once.”
“Once?! Oh, Bob.” Jake mocked with faux sympathy. “And did they make you anything this morning?”
“Nope.”
“Why not?”
“Because…” Bob’s gaze narrowed fiercely towards Jake. “My wife was asking me not to stop.”
There was a deafening silence, and then a chorus of bellowing laughter and jeers echoed throughout the room.
Even Javy let out a loud chuckle, gripping Jake’s shoulders and playfully shaking him. “He got you there!”
Bob cocked his head at Jake, with an assured smile now etched fully onto his lips. He asked if Natasha was ready, and then they both headed out onto the tarmac, leaving Jake behind, practically frozen in shock.
Once the rest of the guys had had enough playful jabs towards him, they all made their way out to join the others. But Jake felt a firm hand on his shoulder as the tall brunette towered over him.
“Don’t assume stuff like that, Hangman. Wait until you find out that he has a kid.”

I was just minding my own business, eating my own dinner (ham and potato chowder in case your curious) when BAM I get smacked in the head with this truth: Jake Hangman Seresin is literally the human equivalent of a Huskey.
I mean think about it. They're dramatic, he's dramatic. They lay on the floor and scream like humans. They're gorgeous. He's gorgeous. They're high maintenance, he's high maintenance. They're loud, he's loud. They's large. He's large. They have a lot of energy, so does he!
We've all been saying Jake is a golden retirever, and I get your points, I do, I do, but personality wise, he will always be a husky in my book.
YES, OH MY GOD?! this makes so much sense! i see this energy so clearly. you’re so right, my dear anon 🥹 bob gives golden retriever energy, in my opinion 🤭
