Hi! Long story short, I fell in love with Margot Robbie’s performance and look as Harley Quinn. While digging up resources and details to create my own cosplay of the character, I got a little frustrated with going back and forth between sources and having to, well, hunt all over the web.

So! I decided to make an all-in-one resource for all things Harley cosplay! On this blog, I’ll be collecting all of my research and data on each of her costumes and the individual pieces, and sharing it all with you. I plan on keeping it short and to the point!

I will also do a little bit of character analysis on each costume, to try and figure out just why the designers made each choice that they did.

I’ll on focusing my efforts on one costume at a time, but I will likely share bits and pieces about others as I find them. Feel free to request different items for me to dig up information on as well!

Harley has a total of 9 tattoos, 1 of which has been modified, and 1 has been removed since her last appearance.

For the old and non-updated tattoos, see the Suicide Squad (2016) and the Birds of Prey (2020) references respectively.

Harley wears a custom pair of duo-tone sequin hot shorts.

the red is on the right, a darker blue on the left. in some early promos, the shorts are red and black.

there are many, many different replicas available, including ones with higher waists and non-sequined metallic versions.

GENERIC ITEM: SMALL GRID BLACK FISHNETS

CHANGES: the waistband is likely sewn into the waist of the shorts, to avoid them peeking out over top. there are some rips made throughout the film.

CHANGES: the heel and stripes on the foot have been painted red.

there are many, many replicas available with different heel types!

♦️ SUICIDE SQUAD ♦️ PRISON UNIFORM

So, there aren't any pre-existing replicas of this version of the uniform. There IS however an officially licensed replica of the clean prison uniform, which Harley wears at the end of the movie.

With some distressing and aging of this version, it wouldn't take long to turn this replica into a screen-accurate version of Harley's prison outfit!

♦️ SUICIDE SQUAD ♦️ PRISON: HAIR & MAKEUP

MAKE-UP: natural. her busted lip from earlier has healed, but her eyes still have some faint bruising and undereye bags.

HAIR: approx 35" middle parted low pigtails with white hair ties. about halfway down, the blue+pink dip dye starts but is faded.

NAILS: natural, but dirty. has the black "EVIL" lettering on the left hand, and knuckles are still a bit bruised.

Harley wears a very faded and distressed version of the Bravo Detainee prison uniform.

while normally a bright orange, Harley's uniform is aged intensely, the coloring now very light with the lettering incredibly faded.

the waistband of her pants are folded down for a more lowrise look, with white underwear (presumably the same ones as her caged outfit) worn underneath and peeking out.

Harley wears a very faded and distressed version of the Bravo Detainee prison uniform.

while normally a bright orange, Harley's uniform is aged intensely, the coloring now very light with the lettering incredibly faded. There is a notable tear on the right shoulder.

the shirt is tied together in the front for a cropped look, with a white bralette (presumable the same one as her caged outfit) worn underneath.

MAKE-UP: a smokey eye with glittery-gold on the lids+inner corners and contrasting blue+red on the outer V's of each eye. a classic red lip.

HAIR: approx 20" middle parted and loosely curled.

NAILS: a glittery gold on all but the ring finger. on the ring, a black with gold french tip.

♦️ SUICIDE SQUAD ♦️ GOLD DRESS

Harley wears a custom gold and black dress in the club flashback.

the dress is overall made from a metal mesh fabric, with diamond tennis chains for the straps and detailing.

the style is a loose, cowl-neck mini dress that is... very short. the bottom of the dress and it's fringes are cut along the pattern of the black diamonds, with one row being centermost, likely for better crotch coverage.

it has a low, open back. the weighted circle that the chains are attached to is also adorned with diamonds.

Harley wears custom gold block heels with an open toe and black fringe on the back. A chunky chain anklet is on her left ankle.

there's diamond tennis chains mixed in with the fringe.

based on the redbacks, these shoes seem to be custom Louboutins. The closest I could find was the 120 OTROT Pumps. Aside from making the shoes themselves a metallic gold, they also swapped out the stiletto heel for a block heel.
