THE KINKY ART OF HATA DELHI

Hata Delhi published in journals and magazines of the Weimar Republic, such as Das Magazin or Illustrirte Zeitung, in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Unfortunately, we don’t know who hides behind the pseudonym “Hata Delhi” (also sometimes written “Deli”). Whoever finds more intel or material, please let me know. I love Delhi’s style, since it’s clear and unmistakable. The drawings show what psychologists and psychiatrists of those days (beginning with Richard Krafft-Ebing at the fin de siècle) had coined as ill, perverted, (neuro)pathological & morally wicked. Yet, the titles of the femdom-drawings, especially those with the beautiful lady with the long black hair, suggest something else, namely a sincere love affair between the female sadist and her male lover, slave, pet & servant. Facing the pretty rough scenes captured in Delhi’s erotic artwork such as needle play, blood play and cutting this must have had and certainly might still today have a disturbing effect on the beholder. Love was in the air, in the sadomasochistic air!
