The sign on the office door was the same as the want ad. "Courier/assistant needed, accepting resumes." There was a scooter instead of a car, and the 'office' was just a half-remodeled house. Still, it was a shot, wasn't it?
Maggie shuffled nervously, even getting this close was more than she’d really like in terms of general indoors-y-ness, but she really wanted to get a job, and this sort of thing might just work for her. With one hand curled up to dig her nails into her palm as some sort of courage booster, she took a deep breath and knocked rapidly on the door with the other.
She bites her lip as she waits for an answer, willing herself not to bolt. C'mon Maggie, you can do this.
Maggie nodded enthusiastically,
“I can do that! I’m sure I can find a way. I’m a good climber, better with natural structures than man made, but yeah. Yeah I can do that”
Harvey extended a gloved hand.”Well, then I suppose you’re hired, we’ll see how this goes,” he said with a nod. “Like I said, figure out a way to track time and mileage. I’ll leave your first batch out tomorrow. Oh, do you have a name or place I need to write checks to, specifically? Or is cash the better move here?”
Maggie took the offered hand and shook vigorously,
“Thank you so so so much!!” Maggie bit her lip, trying to calm herself down a little, “Cash is probably better yeah, I kinda don’t exist, so, um, yeah… Thank you again!”
“Yeah legally existing is harder than it looks. Anyhow, like I said, we can suss out details after the first one tomorrow,” he smiled and handed her a business card. “Has my cell, if you need to reach me or get other details. Thank you for the enthusiasm Maggie. I think you’ll go pretty far with this,” he said with a nod.
