Simblr? Is That a Type of Blender?

Felt the itch to log in to the ol' simblr today and promptly saw that my TS3 male maternity sets got a load of likes semi-recently, which gave me a good chuckle. That truly is my #legacy (and if I can will myself back into the groove, I do want to tackle the other packs).

Anyway, slightly on that subject but in the vein of my TS2 stint that went from December 2025-April 2026 (slowed down only in part because I had some carpal tunnel flair up), I tackled more TS2 things! I ported the Sykes Legacy family (Parker, Mitchell, Nina, and Julien) over to Crystal Valley because I wanted to add a new family without creating one from scratch. The export of their apperances took no time at all via SimPE, but I watned to go further: Match their memories up to the legacy 'hood. With a lot of tutorials, fumbling in SimPE, and a few MTS threads later I accomplished it! However, I did decide to subject Mitchell and Parker to some alien shenanigans though, so here's Mitchell's abduction pictured for the heck of it.

Also, I celebrated a birthday yesterday! Inching ever closer to 30 and despite how wild that felt even a few years ago, I'm about ready to embrace it. Lots of other new things and upcoming ones in my life as well (new car, hopefully new job, maybe a new place?) had me feeling a bit nostalgic for the simplicity of simblr. Especially with everything going on these days, I do yearn for it. (I do wish Tumblr was sophisticated enough to swap accounts as easily as you could on Twitter back in the day... that's honestly one of my biggest barriers to keeping a prescence here as well.)

If there was ever something I'm mad at my past self for doing, it's definitely The Great Defaulting Project of 2015. Like look, I get it. Defaults were a new and exciting concept to my 17 year old self at the time. It was a fun week long project!

Except now in the year of 2026 as I still have this default folder and 11 years of additional custom content, I've come across the problem of:

Custom content and default versions of the same hair/clothes that are independent of one another

Some conflicting meshes for defaults

Defaults missing meshes (namely the fat morph) (ask me how I know on this one)

Realizing that I miss some of those original pieces

This is going to be a great undertaking to trim down the amount of the defaults I have. Is the TS2 Default Database even a thing anymore?

Also, I've jokingly referred to this as "The Great Defaulting Project of 2026," in which you read this as you were to "defaulting on a loan" :p

After going on 18 or so years of playing The Sims 2, I finally tackled a house plan I never thought I could: A foundation house with a basement and attached garage! I'd always been fascinated with TS2 basements, but always felt intimated to try my own. To my surprise after watching a few tutorials, it's rather easy?

No references were used, so this house is pure imaginative on this cold Saturday (part of the "below 0 temps and wind chill" crew right now). Unfurnished for now as I don't have a family in mind for move-in, so it's serving as a piece of set dressing for Crystal Valley right now.

It's Skylar's infrequent, but somehow consistent, midnight posting of sims! I really do want to make a proper return, but that is a rather tall task these days.

Anyway, as both Mary Newton and Cathy Baines have been on my mind again lately, I realized that I've never actually... posted the merger of their LEPacies. It's funny to me that Mary's great-great-great-great grandson, Silas, would end up with Cathy's son, Caleb. Four years ago in 2021 when I had the idea it was funny to me, and I still get a chuckle out of it now. Considering that Cathy was the first in a lot of ways, including that first ever LEPacy attempt, I wanted to honor that and the fact that Mary's LEPacy was my longest running legacy to date.

So enter these two into Starlight Shores! Silas as our singer and Caleb as our acrobat. This has been an off and on affair, like I said, since 2021. It's a combination of factors, primarily a change in how I play the sims (mostly in quick bursts) and the fact that this save. Y'all, this save is so glitchy I don't even know where to start. Some of these pictures are "hallucinations" if you will because I couldn't save in time. I've got the world fixes and this is a light mods save. Also for sake of TS3 being TS3, I made extra sure to play this light on packs (from my notes, active packs are only Generations, High End Loft, and Showtime).

Regardless, popping in from time to time is nice. The running story in my head is that Silas did something to get himself disowned from the Newton family's money, and Caleb is coming from a modest background. The two are trying to strike it big. However, they don't like each other at first (seriously, they were not getting along at first), but eventually they come around and then some.

Maybe someday I'll revive that old Dreamwidth account or post it consistently here, but for now I'm just enjoying this trip down memory lane.

Popping into say I mentioned this blog indirectly during a work training the other day. It was one of those "what's a fact no one knows about you?" in the context of this icebreaker so I dropped "yeah back in college (undergrad)/high school I used to blog about the sims."

To which my big boss (my boss's boss) was like "oh, you were like a celebrity then!" which inflated my ego just a bit

Poking through my files this afternoon (since I needed to save my transcripts), and I don't know why but I came back to my TS2 folder to unearth some old screenshots.

This was a legacy circa 2020. Anne Francisco (the red head) was its founder, and borrowing a name from when I was younger and my friend and I would start with a sim of the same name.

However, unlike back in the day, this definitely took a queer turn. Also legacy rules be damned and Anne went for The Diva who brought in a sizable amount of cash. They did have one child before I stopped playing... a son I think? Sonboy allowed? I can't quite recall.

Okay dunking on EA aside a quick personal post to check in saying hi, and:

Gender got more complicated since last time, nothing new. Came with a new name tho which is pretty swanky (if I do say so myself)

I feel like my mental state shattered into a thousand pieces on November 6th, 2024 after the results were final of the U.S. Event the day before

I've got a new job I start soon!

Also I've been playing the sims casually here and there.

OH and I've got a library card again and have been diving back into reading. Mostly manga, but I'm trying to mix some novels in, too.

It's simply so on-brand for EA to bungle even a re-release of an old franchise from everything I've read. (Also, theft from the community? For shame, sir. For shame!)

Anyway, I'll stick to the Sims 2: Ultimate Collection I've had in working order since 2014 I got for free (no take backs, EA!) thank you~
