Greer frowned into the drink in her hand and took a sip before she spoke. “So, I’m doing the math, and I’m not coming up with any reason how your tattoos should have anything to do with your ability to instruct a yoga class,” Greer responded. She had grown up with a mother who had pretty strong feelings about tattoos, but that probably wasn’t what Harper needed to hear at the moment. “You’re a saint for letting them stay–yoga is supposed to be a silent time for internal reflection and growth, so maybe if you taught, like, an extra good class today they recognized that they have it within themselves to mind their own business?” Greer held her glass to her chest and looked at Harper directly, “Besides, your tattoos make you look like a total bad ass.”

Greer shrugged her shoulder and threw a cluster of waves back over her shoulder before loosening a slight groan. “I had someone back out of a commission–apparently they think charging more than three bucks an hour for my time was excessive.” She was grateful to have someone to vent about work things with. Judging by the day it sounded like Harper had, Greer knew she could probably relate. 

“I’m pretty sure I heard them say something about me looking like a punk or something.  I couldn’t help but wonder how bad of a headspace they had to be in to make assumptions based on someone’s appearance. It was very... irritating, but they didn’t seem to hate my class too much as it got going.” Harper shrugged her shoulders, doing her best to brush off the criticisms, though it stung her a little bit. Besides, she knew she was damn good at her job. “Thanks for the compliment. I’m actually such a soft person, but I do like looking a little badass,” she said with a giggle, smiling at the woman as she spoke.

“Are you serious? That’s gross. People should respect people who work on commission and realize it’s a job just like anything else,” she said with a groan, feeling bad for the other’s day. At least the two of them had alcohol to help get them through the rest of the day.

“I don’t think I’d be able to do what you do without getting worked up, Karens can be terrifying.” Addy smiled. “I certainly don’t envy you teaching grown-ups, my worst run in today was a kid that clearly didn’t get enough sleep sobbing over me reminding him to flush his poops, insisting they were his friends.” She replied with a small chuckle. “The hardest part was keeping a straight face with him. So, aside from having spent far too long staring at a child’s feces, I’ve had a good day, but this drink is much needed, so thanks for the invite.” 

“All the yoga I do, I’m pretty relaxed most of the time, but today was... an adventure,” she said with a smile at Addy. She had met the girl in one of her yoga classes and the two hit it off pretty much immediately. Harper couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the story, finding it to be the most amusing thing she heard all day. “Kids are so gross,” she said with a chuckle. “I still kinda want one someday. As much as I pretend to not be a white picket fence lesbian, there’s always that slight desire to have a cute little family.” Perhaps she was oversharing, but that’s what alcohol did to her some days.  “But you’re so very welcome. Why wouldn’t I invite my favorite student turned friend?” She said with a sweet smile.

“i got an email last night from a parent and it was WILD!” aubrey tells the other, she’d had to re-read the email a few times just to understand what the parent wanted, she was gobsmacked. “his kid is failing my class, so he wants me to give her a C? for no reason at all” .

“Sounds like that kid is a little bit spoiled,” she said with a shrug of their shoulders. “Did he at least ask if his kid could do extra credit or something to actually earn the C? If not, the level of disrespect from that parent is wild.”

“You have no idea how bad the Karens were in yoga today. I’m usually very peaceful, but I overheard two soccer moms questioning my ability to be an instructor because of my tattoos.  I about kicked them out of my class,” she said with a smirk. Following a long day of classes, she needed to have a couple of alcoholic beverages before heading back to her apartment. What better way to unwind than with a vodka soda? She turned to face the person beside her and gave a smile. “Enough about me, how is your day treating you, love?”

Samuel had just worked a twelve hour shift at the store, it was long hours but he needed to be able to support his baby girl. She deserved a better life and who was he if he didn’t put in his all. Though it left him beyond tired, so he had decided to stop at the Starbucks in order to grab himself something with caffeine, anything to get him through the rest of his day. Once he had ordered an iced coffee with a double shot of espresso, he decided that he’d be on his way. He had decided to drink it there because he needed the extra fifteen minutes. “I’m so sorry, did you say something? Though I could totally just be hearing things since this is way more caffeine than I need.”

Following a very hard night of sleep, Harper knew she needed some caffeine to get through the day. She had three classes today and it required a lot of energy to workout all day, though she wasn’t complaining. After getting a chai tea latte, Harper instantly perked up. As she heard the sound of the man talking to her, Harper smiled and shook her head. “You’re totally okay. I mean, I didn’t say anything... I don’t think. I’m known to talk to myself, though,” she said with a laugh. “I’m Harper,” she introduced herself with a friendly smile.

Brooke laughed shaking her head. “I don’t get it, he loved them last week.” She nodded. “While my favorite is broccoli, he does love him some corn. So you guys would get along great.”

“He sounds like an indecisive little guy that’s for sure,” she said with a chuckle. “I like him already! If you ever need a babysitter for any reason, feel free to hit me up. I’m actually awesome with kids, maybe it’s because I’m basically a grown child myself.”

Ezekiel leaned back against seat at the cafe his eyes drifting down to his watch for the second time in 10 minutes. He’d been looking forward to this get together, a chance to get out for the day and relax. It was fire season, so he was constantly on call in case of forest fires and this was just a chance to see someone other than his crew. As if on cue his phone chimed, the nail in the coffin. Sorry can’t make it. Raincheck. Cursing softly, he motions to someone hear by holding up a coffee cup.

“Hey want a free cup of coffee? I haven’t touched it, I just preemptively got it for a coffee date who bailed on me”

I can’t let a good cup of coffee go to waste,” she said with a small smile, it quickly fading when she processed the second part of what he said. “Shit -- I was so stoked for free coffee, I forgot to ask if you’re okay. Was it a first date kind of thing or do you know this person well?” She asked curiously.

“–you know the other day, i was considering moving away from the states. i love this place, but i seriously think that i should get out. so i was looking at the australian citizenship application.” roman grabbed a hold of the small glass of fireball and tilted his head back. “one of the questions asked if i had a criminal record. i didn’t know that was still a requirement. but i figured if it came down to it, i’d try my hardest.”

“Shit is getting a little wild in the States, so I can’t say I blame you.” She said with a laugh, taking a sip of her vodka cranberry and turning her full attention to the man. “Is that what you’re trying to get into tonight? You figured you’d down some fireball and see where the night takes you?” She asked with a smile. “Care if I join?”

So my two year old has declared war on peas today. The veggies he loved last week are now enemy number one and I don’t know if I should be scared or not. I gave him peas at lunch and he ran away terrified and returned wearing a bathrobe and strainer on his head…when I asked why he just looked at me and said “no pea” like he was on strike. So I guess we are going with Broccoli this week.
