A short film I made for my Dad.

Growing up my Dad had a love for machines, cars and planes especially. When he was 10 years old he spotted an Austin Healey 100S racing up the street of Willunga, South Australia. He says it was like nothing he had ever seen or heard before and for many years he dreamt of one day owning the car. 43 years later he purchased the exact same car that he had seen as a young boy. He still has the car today.

The Austin Healey 100S is extremely rare, only 50 were originally built and only 37 remain in the world today.   The film is a small reminder to never give up on your dreams no matter how impossible they might seem.

My first short film, photography by James Laxton, as always. Still my favorite. Written shortly after 9/11, wasn't actually made for another year because of the way things shook out in school. Inspired by three things: the marquee of a Tallahassee laundromat shortly after 9/11 reading "American Flags Cleaned Free," an image in my head of two people sitting atop folding tables, and my housemate at the time being obsessed with Napoleon.

We were very young men when we made this film.

Recently, the L.A. Times called his work on border thriller The Boatman "more art film than action film; deliberately paced, skillfully shot, emotionally challenging." Additionally, he's worked with celebrities Ice Cube, Kylie Jenner, Rainn Wilson, Grace Helbig, Paul Scheer, and MAGIC! on commercial and music videos. We drove from Los Angeles to Yosemite to San Francisco over the course of several days. We stopped when we found something interesting, introduced ourselves, and shot sequences with complete strangers. It was a liberating experience to put snippets of real lives into this music video.
