One Direction and contracts
P.s. I know this is a contract specifically for Britain’s Got Talent, but I don’t see the X Factor being much different. I also know that this video was made in 2017, and I don’t know how old the contract is so things could have been different, but I wanted to share for just the basics of how awful these contracts are and maybe make people realize why things behind the scenes seem so awful.
(NOTE: This is the contract that people HAVE TO SIGN before they get to audition in front of the judges)
This whole video is very informative and they do a great job of breaking it down for non-lawyers to understand but I am going to point out key moments of this video that are important in the 1D background.
Key Times:
3:49-5:36 If you make it through to the semi-finals, you may at some point be required to sign a deal with either SYCO, or Sony Music.
7:18 If you make it to the semi-finals, they ban you from releasing ANY content without their written consent. (THIS INCLUDES SOCIAL MEDIA)
10:24 They can exploit your image however they want.
12:50 They can extend this license however, whatever and whenever they want. (!!!!!!)

Here I was again staring at him . Hot , sweaty , stupid Harry. His now short hair was slicked back in a tiny bun, my mouth slightly watered as he slowly removed his football jersey ,showing off his caramel toned chest , which I’ve dreamt about more than once . I could feel myself starting to drool but I quickly swallowed and shook that thought because after all he was just a stupid jock who likes to kiss people, then pretends like nothing ever happened but that stupid also happens to be my best friend.
I remember that dreadful yet wonderful day as if it was yesterday. It was a Thursday night and I found myself eating pizza and watching Shameless the US version of course, as a British man I have to admit the US version was better than the U.K. one. That’s when I heard , rocks bouncing against my window , that to me indicated that Harry was here , I quickly get off my bed and run to the door and was greeted by a fresh out of the shower Harry ,wearing a black v-neck , jeans that fitted him in all the right places and some vans , he looked so fucking good. “ we have a doorbell you know ” I joke as I move giving him space to come in
“ y'know that’s not really my style , besides it’s way more fun , throwing rocks at your windows” he replied with that evil smile which set off an alarm in my head , he wanted something and I very well knew what it was.
“Mate I know you’re here because you want to drag me to sam’s party , so let me be clear I’m not going to that -”
“Stupid Party” I mumble to myself , can’t believe this bastard actually dragged me to this party which by the looks of it was going to be labeled as , the greatest party ever’ but honestly to this people all of the parties are always the ‘greatest’ , I found myself heading to the kitchen, since Harry ditched me as soon as we walked in , this is what really sets me off , why bring me if you’re just going to leave me? I thought as I poured myself one coke and Bacardi and sipped it lightly ( 😏) , that’s when a very drunk Harry stumbled in , I swear to god Harry can’t really hold his alcohol very well , he hugged me and whispered to my ear sending chills all over my body “ finny , come , 'ere mate I want show ya something ” he lead me through the crowd of who I recognized to be some of my classmates and people who I definitely didn’t go to our school. We successfully made our way up the stairs , since Harry would stumble on almost everything single step , we finally stop in a room which judging by the decorations was sam’s sister room , with Harry still holding my hand , he started to sit on the floor making me fall right into his legs, he let out a soft chuckle and I let out a awkward laugh , as I tried to move but harry was quicker and wrapped his arms around my torso preventing me from moving , that’s when I turned to face Harry and was greeted by his famous green eyes , I was so lost in his soft gaze that I was oblivious to the fact that Harry was leaning , then started leaving soft kisses in my cheek until he reached my lips , he stared at them for a while , at this point I felt as if my heart was going to pop out of my chest , Harry’s hands snaked from my torso to my cheeks , I found myself shaking and slowly closing my eyes , knowing what was coming next, And in matter of seconds I felt Harry’s lips crash on to mind , a kiss so subtle as if my lips were some kind of porcelain, yet he kissed me with so much passion , I wish it would never end , by now my hands slowly made their way to his hair , his tongue was making its way through my mouth softly playing with mine , I could taste the alcohol in his mouth , making the kiss bitter yet sweet. Eventually we both separated from each other, my eyes still remained closed, but as I slowly opened them I encountered a smiling harry , he leaned in again , this time not to kiss me but to whisper something in my ear “ Don’t tell sober Harry I kisssseeeddd youuuu ” .
After that day everything went back to how things were , I asked harry if he remembered anything from that day , he only responds with a “ I don’t even know how I got home mate” and a small chuckle. It hurts. The fact that he doesn’t remember our kiss hurts , I can’t blame him , he was fucking drunk , for fucks sake , but a part of me wanted him to remember, but in the end I guess I will only remain his best friend.
