Good or happy or Elias OMG smh And David’s just like “Where did your mother go wrong?” #facepalm No but I think he does obv recognize that Harry has some issues but tbh, he’s got so many issues of his own that his outlook’s a bit…skewed and I do think he underestimates just how messed up Harry is. I think he’s like, “Why is this kid acting out? I’ve given him literally everything money can buy. What more does he want????” and I think it bothers him that Harry doesn’t work towards goal fulfillment, which is what David does, and what David respects. He’s like, “It takes commitment to achieve ones’ ends and Harry seems to lack that quality.” But David def believes in sass and in intimidation but he also believes in using ppl as tools and it bothers him that Harry seems to not see opportunities in front of them and prefers to throw the baby out with the bathwater and, rather than showing him how to do whatever, David is just like WHAT IS WRONG W THIS KID and #facepalm

And tbh if Harry says something ungrateful, David probs gets mad (great bonding work obv) and it’s just wonderful. Ideal, really, is the word I’d use ;DDDDD
I mean…Harry isn’t actually wrong in the sense that buying Harry stuff is in fact David’s ‘good father’ checklist but under a layer of SO MUCH FRIGGIN BAGGAGE, David really does love Harry it’s just…omg it’s just horrible bc David obv excels at fatherhood. I think he really does think to himself, sometimes, “I give him everything I never had. What more does he want???????” and he’s genuinely puzzled about what more he wants (hint: a little affection might not go astray) I feel like he just decides, “Ava spoiled him,” and then he probs gets on him about taking responsibility and being a man and such and I have a feeling that goes WONDERFULLY
And David def is ALSO protecting his reputation etc that’s not a lie but he sees that as a duty he performs on behalf of the entire family. Tbh in those instances, protecting Harry IS more important to David, but that’s probs not super obv bc what David probs says afterwards is something along the lines of, “How dare you put our good name on the line like that!” rather than, “Omg are you ok i was so worried idk what id do w myself if something ever happened to you” which is what he actuallymeans #facepalm HAHAHAHAHA also David probs gets really freaking mad w him bc that’s how he deals w stress/worry so that probs makes the situation even BETTER! Tho tbh he probs pulls the whole continues-beating-the-unconscious-guy-w-his-cane-until-he’s-stopped-bc-aggression-issues too so that’s always fun times too!
OMG no, David DEF pays ppl off to leave Harry alone! And I think alluded to this somewhere, but I think David has Aileen keep tabs on Harry, on and off, so he knows who he’s seeing and what he’s doing and I feel like he’s grasping so he only pays her when Harry is acting particularly badly/he hasn’t seen Harry in particularly long time, so he doesn’t see ~everything, but he sees enough and hence showing up w hella cash and his cane and using whichever weapon works best, considering the situation tbh.
And yeah, he def does the paying ppl off thing behind Harry’s back bc he literally thinks ppl are just trying to use Harry and David’s like, “These aren’t the right kind of ppl for my boy. I’ll get rid of them before they can hurt/use him.” But instead, getting rid of them hurts Harry so that’s gREAt. And yeah, if he hasn’t already, he’ll def try to pay off Rosie, Drew, and anyone else Harry meets in ~that part of town to leave Harry alone and alot of them are desperate enough to take him up on it. #cashisking
Oh yeah, I def feel like David doesn’t know about the cocaine, though he probs does know about the alcohol. But omg he would FReAk oUT if he knew like ommmmmmmggggggggggg NO SON OF MINE bc I feel like that’s what ruined his birth family and basically INTERNAL SCREAMING His answer will probs be to tighten his control on Harry, if he finds out, and that means limiting everything - cutting off his bank account, getting rid of any remaining friends (he’ll probs think Drew and/or Rosie are his dealers hahahaha) and just yeah. It won’t be pretty if he finds out. I feel like, as time goes by and he gets more desperate, he may also do lovely things like threaten to call in any loans or kick any ppl who associate with Harry and/or their family out of the house they’re renting from David and since he owns the rest of town they’ll never get another place and other fun things like that so tbh alot of ppl probs don’t really have much of a choice and yeah. But idk that he will find out? Just…if he does. He will LOOSE HIS SHIT and nothing will ever be ok again basically hahahaha
HAHAHAH yeah that makes sense and meanwhile Harry just feels unloved/neglected. ALSO since he does think that his dad is just trying to buy his love, I think he’s always like ~sarcastic~ thanks, dad, just what i always wanted. ~puts thing down and never bothers to use it ever again~ and like even if there was something really cool that david found for him he’d still would refuse to acknowledge it as anything special b/c he’s not gonna give his dad the satisfaction and omfg what is a healthy relationship b/c obvi neither of these guys know ;DDD
And yeah then when David gets angry Harry just uses that as an opportunity to be more sarcastic and I just ?!??!?!!??!????

I do think that Harry knows that he’s hella spoiled and tbh he def likes that and I don’t think he would know how to exist w/o his dad’s checking account at his disposal but I also don’t think he realizes just HOW MUCh he depends on them either. I do think sometimes he thinks about leaving when things seem especially fucked up and I can even see him disappearing for a few days now and again (or maybe I should say “disappearing” b/c there’s every chance that AIleen is following him and knows exactly where he is, haha) -- although still on dad’s dime I mean he probs withdrew a bunch of cash but in the end he always comes back and I think there’s a whole lot of reasons for that but mostly
he ultimately knows he’s hella messed up and even getting away from his parents probably wouldn’t help much at this point anyway

Also do you think that he’s tried to pay off Rosie??? I do feel like Harry has def told his dad about her at some point -- i don’t think he meant to b/c I think he likes keeping her separate from his family life as much as possible b/c it’s so screwed up, but I think when he’s angry w/ his dad he would have mentioned his friend from the ~wrong side of town~ to him and I feel like it wouldn’t take David long to figure out who it is AND do you think that Rosie would have then said anything to Harry about it?? Also do you think that would have affected Rosie’s situation since she’s renting space from David??
OMG DAVID FREAKING THE HELL OUT IF HE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE DRUGS IS EVERYTHING TO ME!!!!!!! That would be sooooo good for their relationship especially if he goes after Harry’s remaining friends and Harry, in turn, would loOse HIS SHIT B/C YOU DO NOT GO AFTER DREW AND ROSIE THEY ARE ALL HARRY HAS
