It's always like a den of snakes whenever they come face to face with her father. Like he knows he's going to get bitten because he would do anything to protect Eva. His protective nature has only become amplified the moment she told him she was pregnant. His patience has become thinner and he knows he needs to focus on her right now. It has always been about her for him ever since she picked him over making her father happy. He's certain if he had it his way his daughter would be married to one of his honcho's sons. Elijah tightens his fingers around hers, "And we're very excited. Aren't you excited sir?" Elijah does his best to be polite. He has no intention of throwing a match to the flame tonight. "Eva has told me she's so excited for you to be a grandfather." Maybe it's a lie but he's trying to butter him up.
Now more than ever did she wish she could read the mind of men. More specifically both Elijah and her father. Though she wasn't sure how much her announcement was in either of their heads versus just cursing each other out. Maybe Eli was right, he might have been practicing his patience, then again her father hadn't fully tried his patience yet. She knew regardless of what they said, her dad wouldn't change overnight. Even if she could hope for it. It had been a losing battle the moment she said 'I do' to him but there was no going back. Eva glanced over at him, feeling his grasp tighten, she gave him a small smile. She heard a gasp from Chloe but her gaze turned to their dad. His face twisted before returning expressionless man then speaking "hm, well maybe you'll finally bring a boy who can take over from me." Eva wasn't sure if that was approval or not. It sounded like the closest possible thing to it. "We don't know the gender yet, dad."
