Oh the cute guy wasn't just cute and tall and broad-shouldered but also quirky and fast. Getting points by the second she thought giving him a smile and a small laugh at his line. She was certainly not smooth enough to talk to a guy she found attractive--she would be too blunt or idiotic or giggly. Gosh giggly Lila was the worst. Do not giggle, batgirl wouldn't giggle. Batgirl would say something cool in return.

But she wasn't Batgirl nor a theatre major and even though all of her roommates were, well, gosh why was this hard? She had no problem talking to the nepo babies not ten minutes ago.

"You're not too bad yourself. Nice outfit. Did Alfred made it for you?" she utterly ignored everyone else at his side or even hers but was sure her friend was proud of her. Hoped at least. "Who's protecting the city though if we are both here?" Ugh. Idiot.

Logically-- logically, he shouldn't be flirting with her. There were plenty of red flags and warning signs that said this was probably not the best idea. Robert went right past all of them and chose to ignore any warning bells that were going off. “ He helped, yeah. I started but he finished it, so I still get to say I was involved. Even if only picking out the colors. ” What was he saying? Not totally sure, honestly. but he was trying something. Even if that something was whatever the first thing that came to mind was. Not for the first time was he glad he was buzzed. “ I'm still on duty. This party is a dangerous place. Anything could happen. ” He stepped closer to her, for the excuse of moving around other people mingling around them, but it pushed his body rather close to hers. It was worth it. Would be worth it. If only to get these daydreams out of his head.

this whole thing was a nuisance. his life had been uprooted, and they were just getting started. there had been every possibility ( it was a reality more like ) that his eventual marriage would end up being an arranged one. gabriel knew he couldn’t live his life like his estranged, bachelor uncle. not if he wanted to be king ( and oh did he want it ). being married was one of the strongest stipulations of the law for him to become king. he had just, selfishly, hoped that there might be a loophole where the marriage wouldn’t be necessary. nothing but a pipe dream. so the man was pouting, living each day looking at moray and being reminded of what he was sacrificing for his crown. desperately trying to remind himself that it was worth it. and definitely throwing an adult sized tantrum here and there when it suited him.

despite the boiling anger under his skin;; he heard the rationality in her words. he absolutely would have done the same thing. many times, possibly probably. it made him pause, staring and fuming for forcing himself to calm down. The last thing he wanted was to create rumors with whomever was listening in on their conversation ( the walls were always listening ). “ you have a point. ” another huff, his nostrils flaring as his breathing evened, deciding there was no threat here. “ truce? ”
