Asrael is an adult with a deeply peaceful, affectionate, and protective nature. His way of being in the world is gentle, warm, and steady: he shows affection through physical gestures, kind words, and an almost constant attentiveness toward those he loves. He has no trouble making himself vulnerable or expressing affection; on the contrary, for him, loving is something you do, not just something you feel. Even so, that tenderness does not make him fragile. When a situation demands it (especially if someone crosses boundaries or threatens the people he loves), Asrael can become serious and firm, without ever losing control of himself.
He works as a physical education teacher (alongside Egsgard), and his connection to effort and care is very present both in his work and in his daily life. He is responsible, consistent, and dedicated, even though he often ends up exhausted. At home, he is usually the one who cooks, not only because he is good at it, but because he loves doing it as a form of care and connection. For Asrael, cooking is a natural extension of his way of loving.
His central relationship is with Rippen, his partner. Asrael is deeply in love with him and very emotionally attached. He tends to seek physical contact instinctively: hugging him, leaning against him, touching his back or arms without thinking too much about it. It is a natural way of reaffirming the bond. Despite being the more affectionate of the two, Asrael respects Rippen’s boundaries and understands if he asks him directly to stop. The dynamic between them is intense and complex: Rippen is more bitter, closed-off, and brusque, while Asrael compensates for that with patience, sweetness, and absolute loyalty. In intimacy, Asrael is the safe place where Rippen begins, awkwardly and reservedly, to open up emotionally. Even when Rippen shows affection reluctantly (with gifts given between insults or embarrassment), Asrael receives them with genuine emotion, without mocking or reproaching anything.
With Sammy and Egsgard, Asrael maintains a very strong bond that predates many of the important events in his life. Egsgard and Sammy are his best friends, with whom he shares real trust and a deep mutual understanding. Unlike other relationships, with them Asrael can be more relaxed, more direct, and less restrained, knowing that he does not need to explain himself too much. There is a solid respect between them, and they are people capable of quickly noticing when something is not right with Asrael, even if he tries to hide it.
With Malessica, Asrael’s bond is built over time and is marked by a mix of concern, caution, and a constant willingness to understand her. Since Malessica was a child, Asrael was able to notice that she was not like the others: there was in her a strange intensity, a way of looking and reacting that alternated between curiosity, hardness, and a deep need for control. Far from rejecting her, Asrael adopted a patient, observant stance, trying to offer her stability and calm, even when she did not always know how to receive them.
Asrael is a character defined by loyalty, constant care, and quiet strength. He loves openly, protects without showing off, and confronts when necessary. He is someone who embraces and accompanies, but who also knows how to stand his ground with a calm that can be far more imposing than any shout. His presence often becomes a point of support for those around him, and his love (especially toward Rippen) is the axis that orders almost all of his decisions.
