Au where mouthface just kills mcdoon and becomes the bandit king herself, dread pirate roberts style
so I wrote a little thing. I don't know I this is what you imagined, and I'm not a good writer either... but here it is.
She stared down onto the shotgun in her hand, and then back up to man standing opposite her. He stood calm and almost friendly against the dark and brooding sky. Just a few weeks ago she had fancied that man. Now she could only see him as the man that had killed her family. Her hands were shaking, as she raised the gun and aimed at McDoon.
"Oh, Childbride," he laughed. "You've taken this gun from me, but do you have the guts to pull the trigger?" Thunder growled over his voice as he spoke. Although the rain had stopped pouring a while ago, the storm was still raged over the plain.
He stepped around the puddle on the ground and came closer towards her.
Mouthface backed away and clenched onto the gun. "I will do it. I will shoot you," she spit out "I will fucking kill you, if you come any closer."
McDoon took another step. "You wouldn't dare."
Her hands were wet, either from the rain or because she had been sweating too much. She attempted to wipe them on her equally wet skirt, then she put her fingers back on the trigger. For a moment she battled her mind to pull it, but then she lowered the weapon.
He was right. She didn't dare.
When she had been hunting with her grandpa and brother, she had no hesitation killing. She had pulled the trigger without a second thought. But killing a human being was different than killing an animal, she realised now.
McDoon chuckled, with an arrogant smile, visibly happy that he was right. Then he pulled his own pistol out of the holster and pointed it at her. It was smaller, but just as deadly.
"Put the rifle down," he demanded. "Put it down and I won't hurt you. We can pretend all this never happened. You can come with me, marry me and live with me, and then everything will be fine." He laughed. "It's that easy, come on."
"No, you sick bastard. I will not marry you." Her voice was shaking just as much as her hands now.
If she didn't get away from him now, that meant she had to stay with him forever, cook for him, and sow for him, and do whatever a wive does for her husband normally. This was the last thing she wanted. She had to get away from him.
"Well, well..," he said, while taking another step. "Then it looks like I have to take you again. And this time I'll be careful not to let you get away." He checked his pistol, waiting for her to say something, waiting for the perfect moment to grab her again. He had an awful grin on his face.
She pushed a wet hairlock out of her face, careful not to let him out of her sight.
"Why are you doing this? Did no-one love you as a child?" It was meant as a rethorical question. She was stalling, building up courage to raise her weapon again.
"Oh, you hit the right nerve." McDoon answered. He put a hand on his heart in a dramatic gesture. "You see, my family died when I was younger. They all died. Just. Like. Yours. Did." A smile slid on his face when he saw the shock in Mouthface's face. He, too, had hit the right nerve.
"You're a monster!" she screamed at him. Her throat was sore from all the screaming. "You killed them! I will never go with you. And I promise, I will do upon you as you did upon them."
She swallowed her fear and buried it in her stomach. "I'll kill you." Voicing this thought was terrifying. She didn't know if this was what her family would have wanted. Cold-blooded revenge. But she had to kill him, for her own contentment.
"Alright then." His expression went dark, and Mouthface could hear him pull the safety grip on his pistol.
They were both aiming at each other now. Moutface's hands were shaking, from fear and from the cold, but McDoon stood confident with a cold expression in his eyes. This was not about who had the guts to shoot at each other. It was about who would be the first to do so.
It had to be her. It had to be her.
And so she pulled the trigger.
The thunder was growling right when McDoon fell.
Then Mouthface broke down crying.
The guy who didn't.
He just didn't.
