During today’s final checks for the Haunted House’s room flow, Erin hits us a with a big scare.

Day 2

September 4th, 2018

Progress continues on the Haunted House.  

Today was spent organising prop pieces by what room they’ll be going into.  We taped out with painter’s tape the areas curtains and walls will go up and split up props accordingly.  

Today Erin set up one of Aunt Gina’s favourite props - a Scarecrow.  He’s one of the oldest props we still own.  

It’s been a bit of a difficult process for my Aunt this year as we’re getting rid of props we’re not using for the haunted house or inside decorations.  Years of collecting and prop work.  Some pieces makes sense though, between age and weather in Florida a lot of the props are in pretty poor condition.  

A side tech note- filmed today on the fly with no audio equipment- but my in camera audio actually sounded usable today which is great.  Good to know back up audio for random shooting will at least be usable in a pinch.

Day 1

September 2nd, 2018

First official day on the house.  Emptied the Halloween shed after bombing it for bugs earlier in the week.  Began sorting process of what props stay for the haunted house / decorating the home and what is getting thrown out or sold.  Many props are weather worn from Florida heat, though a Mummy’s aesthetic has been improved from this.  

Garage has also been cleaned out and carpets have been laid for the house.  More sorting will need to happen with props in the garage and porch.  

Filming documentation has started-

Here is Regina, the leader of the Haunted House, preparing to clear out the garage of trash to make room for the haunted festivities.  

Must prepare interview questions in coming days before next round of preparation.  

Technical Note for Self- audio shotgun mic is acting up again, must look into why it isn’t recording properly.  Can fix what was recorded today in post production.
