What Happened With Armie Hammer?

As of November 2022, no accusations or DMs have been verified or confirmed by police or any authority. Hammer has not been arrested or charged with any crime.
Pre-Scandal:
13 October 2016: While attending London Film Festival, 30-year-old Armie Hammer allegedly receives a Facebook message from a Bulgarian woman named Efrosina. She claimed they began messaging frequently and started an affair.
December 2016: Hammer and Efrosina take their only known photograph. Several other fans took photos with Hammer this day, suggesting it was a meet and greet. After relocating to Los Angeles, Efrosina pursued acting and worked at a sex club.
January 2017: Hammer seriously injures his dominant arm in a gym accident, tearing his pectoral muscle. He requires emergency surgery and wears a sling for months. He told press he feared the injury would end his career.
April 2017: Efrosina has accused Hammer of raping her on 24 April 2017 (she accused him in March 2021). Hammer was still recovering from his injury, posting on Instagram a week earlier that he was unable to box or work out.
October 2017: Efrosina attends a red carpet premiere for Call Me By Your Name (CMBYN), where Hammer is present. In 2021, after publicly accusing Hammer, she described that same time period as traumatic because Hammer was so unavoidable.
Mid/Late 2018: Efrosina travels to Italy to visit CMBYN’s filming locations, stating on social media “I live here now”. She approaches Luca Guadagnino (film’s director) while there, and meets Andre Aciman (novel’s author) later in the year.
December 2019: In 2022′s House of Hammer documentary, Courtney Vucekovich claims she met Hammer at a Dallas party this month.
January 2020: Hammer would cite 22 January 2020 as his separation date from wife of 9 years, Elizabeth Chambers. However, they do not officially announce their divorce until July 2020 (after their 10 year anniversary). Hammer follows Paige Lorenze on Instagram. A woman known as ‘Dominastya’ leaks unverified screenshots of consensual DMs allegedly between herself and Hammer, depicting dominant/submissive roleplay.
March 2020: As the pandemic worsened, Hammer quarantined in the Cayman Islands, with Chambers and their two children. During this month, he films a video with a woman in lingerie visible on his hotel bed. He refers to the woman as “Miss Cayman”. He would later upload the video to his finsta (private instagram account) in December 2020. Julia Morrison responds to a 2017 DM from Hammer she had previously missed. Courtney Vucekovich claims she and Hammer are texting. Efrosina allegedly sends an email to Hammer accusing him of rape, which he denies. Efrosina has also claimed she was setting up an apartment for him around this time.
June 2020: Hammer posts numerous Instagram stories showing his attempts to leave the Caymans. Approx 25-26 June, he flies to Florida, then drives to Los Angeles (Chambers remains in the Caymans with the children).
July 2020: Hammer arrives in Los Angeles on 10 July. His divorce from Chambers is announced hours later. [As of November 2022, their divorce still isn’t finalized]. One week after the announcement, Efrosina sends Hammer this NSFW message, requesting violent sex. Hammer declines. Six months later, she publicly accuses him of rape.
August 2020: Courtney Vucekovich “soft launches” her relationship with Hammer, posting Instagram stories with him visible/audible in the background. On 31 August, Hammer is photographed on a date with writer Jessica Ciencin-Henriquez. The photos are not released until 7 September.
September 2020: Hammer is photographed with Rumer Willis on 4 September. When the aforementioned Henriquez photos are released, she issues a statement to People Magazine saying she would not be pursuing Hammer. For the rest of 2020, she would make cryptic, negative posts about him, including one showing her blocking his account. She denies dating him three times. Paige Lorenze arrives in Los Angeles on 12 September. Hammer responds to Julia Morrison’s March 2020 message. They never meet in person but begin exchanging consensual sexual messages. Elizabeth Chambers refuses to uphold an agreement to bring the children back to LA. Chambers would not return to the US until February 2022, forcing Hammer to return to the Caymans. On 29 September, Vucekovich leaves a comment on a BDSM themed photo Rumer Willis posted to Instagram: “That’s not how he likes it 😘” which she later deletes. Henriquez would also leave a 😘 comment. This contrasts vividly with the women’s later accounts that this time was traumatic for them and that they spoke out to warn/protect other women from his dangerous ways. Women in danger do not playfully taunt/tease other women rumored to be dating the alleged abuser in question.
October 2020: Hammer’s split from Vucekovich is confirmed on 1 October 2020. His last appearance on her Instagram was 25 September. On 3 October, Efrosina commented "good girl” on Vucekovich’s Instagram. From early October, Lorenze posted a number of selfies where at least one bruise is visible on her body. Lorenze would later claim in 2021 that she hid her body because she was ashamed of the bruises. At the end of October, Hammer and Lorenze create finsta accounts, which gossip site DeuxMoi reports on.
November 2020: Lorenze attends Thanksgiving dinner with Hammer at his mother’s home. Fans on Tumblr receive anonymous messages saying Hammer will soon be exposed for something. During this month, Lorenze posted a cropped, topless selfie to Instagram. A photographer would later upload the full photo, showing his own hands clasped around her hips. Lorenze would later state Hammer did not let her see other men while they were together (despite agreeing to polyamory), this selfie would potentially counter that claim.
December 2020: Lorenze would claim she left Hammer at the beginning of this month for safety because “he was getting stranger”. However, Hammer and Lorenze were photographed together on 13 December. Lorenze left LA for vacation on the 15th. On the 18th, Hammer returned to the Caymans to see his children, quarantining until January 1. On 16 December, Vucekovich posts “just waiting to drop the hammer” on her Instagram. On 28 December, Lorenze appears on the “For Pucks Sake” podcast. Unprompted, she describes Hammer as “really great” and “so amazing”, stating their relationship is “more worthy” than her previous one. The podcast was deleted in January 2021, at the request of Lorenze’s agent. On 31 December 2020, Efrosina posts a strip video to her Instagram - houseofeffie - with Hammer allegedly providing voice over. The video generates fan attention leading into the first week of January 2021.
Beginning:
January 2021: houseofeffie leaked unverified screenshots of DMs depicting a kink-based affair with Hammer between 2016-2017, with sparing contact in late 2019 and early - mid 2020. Graphic descriptions from Hammer of an alleged cannibalism kink/fantasy in one screenshot sparks public attention (and is misinterpreted as reality). Since January, many fans have noted how the DMs do not correctly display his username, verification tick or certain icons. Gossip page DeuxMoi directs readers to the houseofeffie IG page, as does Jessica Ciencin-Henriquez. Henriequez did not correct any articles citing her as an ex-girlfriend of Hammer. By 10 January, mainstream press begins covering the DMs and Efrosina begins to accuse Hammer of sexual assault. Hammer issues a denial - and his exit from the film Shotgun Wedding - on 13 January. On 14 January, Courtney Vucekovich is interviewed by Daily Mail and Page Six. The headlines read “[Hammer] wanted to barbecue and eat me”. The articles incorrectly cite Hammer and Vucekovich as having dated from June to October 2020. Vucekovich claims she consented to intense sexual acts she became uncomfortable with, was unnerved by his cannibalism kink and accused Hammer of emotional abuse. On 15 January, photos and videos stolen from Hammer’s finsta were released by Daily Mail, including the Miss Cayman video. Cayman police warn Hammer, after receiving a complaint about his use of the island’s technology. Hammer publicly apologizes and the case is closed. On 22 January, Paige Lorenze is interviewed by Daily Mail and Page Six. Her account is near identical to Vucekovich’s, with an added claim that Hammer allegedly carved a letter 'A’ into her lower torso during a BDSM session (which she consented to but was uncomfortable with). [September 2022: Lorenze’s account of events changed. She stated on Sofia With An F’s podcast she did not consider her relationship with Hammer alarming until January 2021 when her sister heard about the accusations. Lorenze claims she laughed when her sister asked and explained some things she had done with Hammer, which her sister deemed abnormal. This is not the story Lorenze told in January 2021]. On 28 January, Luca Guadagnino’s new film Bones & All is announced, starring Timothee Chalamet (Guadagnino directed Call Me By Your Name, which starred Hammer and Chalamet). The film is an adaptation of a novel about cannibalism. This sparked global headlines, pairing the Hammer accusations with the film news. In response, Efrosina leaked an unseen photo of Chalamet and Hammer from 4 April 2017, along with an alleged DM from Hammer saying “Look who I just had lunch with…Timmy 🍑”. A possible indication of this DM being fake: Timothee Chalamet was not yet famous for CMBYN or the peach scene in the film as of April 2017 (CMBYN was not released until November 2017).
February 2021: As Efrosina continued to make accusations and leak more unverified screenshots, Chambers issued her first and only statement on Instagram, saying “I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know”. On 3 February, a sexual assault investigation was opened by Los Angeles Police after Efrosina reported Hammer. This was not publicly known until 11 March 2021. On 7 February, media reported that Hammer had subpoenaed Facebook and Instagram to recover his data. In late February, Efrosina claimed Lorenze had withdrawn public support of her, citing Efrosina’s frequent lustful/obsessive posts about Hammer as “bad for her (Lorenze’s) image”. Since coming forward, Efrosina had often begged Hammer to contact her again. She also posted about wanting to “bite/touch his ribs”, claimed an obsession with his hands and claimed she would be sexually aroused if he took her to court. She claimed Hammer had tried taking legal action in 2019 but allegedly stopped upon realizing it aroused her. When Efrosina accused Lorenze of harassment and victim shaming - even claiming Lorenze had told her she “begged to be raped” - Lorenze denied this. In response, Efrosina posted partial screenshots of DMs between them. Lorenze then posted the full conversation, with no victim shaming evident. Lorenze posted a screenshot of herself telling Efrosina she had contact with Armie’s lawyers, who had shown her the obsessive/lustful messages Efrosina had sent Hammer. Efrosina relented and the pair deleted their argument. No media reported this. As of September 2022, Efrosina still makes lustful posts about Hammer’s hands and/or ribs.
March 2021: On 11 March, Vanity Fair published an article titled “The Fall of Armie Hammer”. The article reveal nothing new, only rehashed family history. One excerpt claimed Hammer’s father Michael owned a “sex throne” (denied by his publicist). Upon reading the article, Efrosina started to fixate on Michael Hammer, posting sexual fantasies about him and the throne for over a year. [Note: As of September 2022, she still harbors this obsession, asking followers to send clips of Michael/mentions of the throne from the House of Hammer documentary, and defending him against his sister Casey’s allegations]. Days after the VF article, Hollywood lawyer Gloria Allred hosted a live-streamed press conference detailing the accusations against Hammer. Efrosina appeared in a pre-recorded segment where she tearfully described the alleged 2017 rape. Hammer issued another denial and lawyer Andrew Brettler released the aforementioned graphic text message from Efrosina, adding that Hammer received hundreds of similar messages from her. Efrosina has never addressed this. The police investigation from February was then confirmed by the LAPD. Nothing further occurred legally.
Post Scandal:
April 2021: On 20 April, Julia Morrison attempts to sell the DMs between herself and Hammer as NFTs, claiming she “narrowly escaped” Hammer by never meeting him. From 26 April, she would claim SUVs began following and intimidating her, but clarified she had no proof this was Hammer’s doing.
May 2021: On 21 May, Efrosina tweeted the cannibal kink/rib removal fantasy was actually hers but Hammer had “stolen” her idea to scare “vanilla” women with. On 27 May, Brettler and other high profile lawyers spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about mainstream media currently refusing to publish information from the side of an accused public figure. Brettler revealed tabloid Daily Mail was the only publication who would accept the graphic text message sent by Efrosina to Hammer. The article also featured a lawyer representing a victim of a public figure, and they agreed “cherry picking” within media is damaging. Unbeknownst to press and public, Hammer left the Caymans at the end of May to enter into rehabilitation treatment in Florida.
June 2021: On 7 June, wannabe gossip reporter TheZenBlonde - who documented the Hammer accusations on Tik Tok - was tipped off on Instagram and Tik Tok to Hammer leaving the islands. This tip-off was then used as a source for a Vanity Fair article released the next day, announcing Hammer’s move to treatment. The article spoke to several sources claiming Hammer has alcohol/drug/family trauma issues. One source appears to be Vucekovich (unnamed). Efrosina issued a statement via Allred saying she is “glad he is finally getting the help I begged him to get…”. However, on Instagram, she expressed outrage. For months, she claimed treatment would not work, that he was attending a “luxury spa” and that he didn’t deserve access to rehabilitation.
August 2021: Paige Lorenze stated she never intended for Hammer to be canceled, after briefly experiencing being canceled herself. On 31 August, People Magazine reported that Efrosina still had not pressed charges against Hammer.
October 2021: In Time Magazine, Timothee Chalamet declined to comment on the allegations. Efrosina responded on her Instagram story stating “@tchalamet You knew”. For three months, she accused Chalamet of being complicit to Hammer’s wrongdoings. In January 2021, answering a follower who asked if Chalamet knew, she responded “I have no idea” then claimed his birth chart showed him to be “an angel”. No media reported her claims against him.
Nov-Dec 2021: Elizabeth Chambers shows Hammer on her Instagram story, celebrating Thanksgiving at her Caymans residence. He begins to frequently show up in the background of her Instagram stories. On 8 December, TMZ reported the LAPD police investigation is completed and will be sent to the District Attorney for review.
2022:
July: A Caymans hotel patron claimed Hammer was their concierge during a stay. For some reason, this sparked a media frenzy. Photos of Hammer supposedly dressed in uniform appeared to confirm rumors but hotel staff repeatedly denied it. Mixed reports continued until he showed up in Los Angeles with Chambers and their children. Vanity Fair reported actor Robert Downey Jr was helping Hammer recover by giving him a place to live and footing rehab bills. Downey’s team never addressed the claims. Chambers told a paparazzo Hammer was doing well and was amazing with their kids. She denied they were reconciling as a couple.
September: Lorenze appeared on Sofia with an F’s podcast, giving an entirely different version of events to her January 2021 interviews. Casey Hammer’s House of Hammer documentary aired, with interviews from Courtney Vucekovich and Julia Morrison, detailing their experiences with Armie. During her interview, Vucekovich claimed a photo supposedly taken by Hammer shows a bite mark on her body. She comments “I think Armie took this photo. He bites really hard”. Viewers subsequently found the photo - a tattoo of a terminally ill child’s bite marks - on Pinterest, uploaded years prior by a tattoo artist. Vucekovich issued a clarification to People Magazine stating Hammer sent her dozens of photos during their relationship and she mistook the image for her own body. The producers issued an apology and replaced the photo. Days later, The Sun released an alleged screenshot of a 2020 text message conversation between Hammer and Vucekovich. The text shows Vucekovich considering tattooing Hammer’s bite marks. Fans noted the screenshot appeared to come from Hammer’s phone. Vucekovich was then called out by gossip page DeuxMoi for claiming they contacted her first in January 2021, for verification about the Hammer accusations. DeuxMoi showed message evidence of Courtney contacting them first. In a statement to LA Times, Efrosina criticized the documentary, and her lawyer Gloria Allred for appearing in it/speaking for her, when Efrosina herself did not feature. Allred responded “statements that I have made on behalf of clients have been made because the statements were consistent with our representation, were authorized either explicitly or implicitly, and were made because I believed that the statements were in the client’s best interests.”. Efrosina and Allred parted ways shortly after. Efrosina claimed she axed Allred, while Allred claimed she axed Efrosina when she wouldn’t sign a declaration under perjury of her accusations. Elizabeth Chambers gave her first interview since the accusations to E News on 21 September. She described her relationship with Armie as positive and healed. Efrosina reacted to the interview by leaking alleged DMs between herself and Elizabeth, depicting Elizabeth as trying to push Efrosina toward police and making official declarations so she can secure full custody of their children. She also remarks about Hammer dating other women on the island. A woman named Liv William is also part of the conversation. Chambers rep appeared to confirm the authenticity of the DMs, stating that “Elizabeth sought to determine the veracity of those allegations” despite none of the screenshots showing Chambers attempting to verify the accusations. On 26 September, CNN published a report stating that a former friend of Chambers had come forward with texts and emails proving Chambers had leaked negative stories about Hammer to press from September 2020 onward, using the friend’s identity, email and phone. The articles would use “a friend of Chambers” as their source. The friend spoke of feeling “pressured” to participate, with Chambers even directing her what to say on the phone. Page Six revealed the content of these texts/emails, with Chambers stating Efrosina was “just dramatic” and the other alleged victims were “all crazy”. The emails also revealed Chambers told media Hammer had an affair with actress Lily James, just as Hammer and James began promoting their film Rebecca, on 15 October 2020. Articles detailing this rumor appeared from 24 October 2020. Emails from 13 January 2021 also appeared to confirm Chambers as being behind the leak of Hammer’s private Instagram account, sending photos from the account and telling the friend to ensure the media focuses on the captions he used. Articles about the “finsta” began to appear from 15 January 2021. Chambers has yet to address the report. On 27-28 September, Chambers friend Jo replied to…me about various events in 2020-2021. She made numerous incorrect statements and attempted to twist the chronology of several key moments, but also (inadvertently?) confirmed Chambers compared Hammer to serial killer Ted Bundy in a 2021 Vanity Fair article. Again, the quote is cited as “Elizabeth has been telling her friends…” which would align with the CNN findings. A separate post will be made about this.
As of November 2022, no charges have been filed against Hammer. It remains unknown where the District Attorney’s review is at, and Efrosina remains the only person to have involved a lawyer and filed a report on Hammer.
