“Your m a j e s t y.” Alice said with a bitter tone, “To what do I owe the pleasure of your company.”

“Hatter?” She could see him sitting at then end of the long table, unable to believe her eyes. How did she wind up there? Much as she hadn’t wanted to, Alice had left Underland once again, leaving behind her truest friend. Was she dreaming? The hatter had said it was a place they could meet, perhaps he’d been right. “Where are we?”
“Fine…” He muttered, his eye narrowing down to her. “I’ll prove it to you…but my dear Alice, your going to have troubles with that. You see, I’m staying in Marmoreal now. Mirana and I made a deal. So it’s either you end up going back to where you originally came from; or you deal with seeing me everyday.”
“I can’t stay here forever. My mother is back home, waiting for me.” She hadn’t wanted to think about leaving, knowing that there was a chance she may never return. Stayne did not need to know that, nor would he. “So, I won’t be seeing you. Just know, I have my ways of hearing things. Of the on goings of Underland. I’ll be listening very closely.”
He unsteadily made to move towards her, panting tiredly from the bitterness of his exertion, combined with the elements surrounding them. He could not take much more of this.
“I do not know where your Hightopps are, and if you had any idea of the damage you have caused, your friend’s impending expiration would not make any difference. If you return the Chronosphere now, I will still be able to fix it all.” In his mind, his only concern was righting the offset balance of the Universe. He could not think of anything else otherwise.
The world would soon be inhabitable, people existing only as props inside of it, breathless, lifeless, rusted to the very ground they tread upon.
“Alice, please.” His voice held urgency, the pain in his chest overwhelming.
Alice wanted so desperately to run, to give one last attempt and finding out what happened to Hatter’s family. However, she was exhausted, all the time traveling putting its wear on her. It was clear that Time himself was having issues of his own.
Going against all her instincts, Alice handed the small golden ball to Time, a few tears slipping down her face as she did so. Yes, Tarrant’s family was alive bit, without help, they would never be able to find them. “I failed him.” The blonde whispered, voice watery with tears. As she attempted to untangle herself from the root around her ankle, Alice cried out in pain. Apparently the fall had caused more damage than initially thought. Taking a deep breath, she managed to free herself from the tree root, jaw hurting from how hard Alice clenched her teeth. “Take us back ---- so I can say goodbye. “
The Queen nodded and thought for a moment. She had contemplated the same sentiments. Execution would not be the solution and a more diplomatic approach had always been Mirana’s tactic and embraced by many. However, many of her people insist to make an exception. She knew she could not trust her sister entirely just yet either. With a nod, she gave Alice a faint smile. “I have thought of that, yes. I have never been one to construct a prison but I believe I can keep her around here. I do not wish to make her a servant of mine, but rather for the people…” Her fingers began to twitch at a terrible thought. “However, her life would be in danger if I kept her without protection. It does not seem any of my Knights wish to take upon that task.”
With a deep sigh, she rested a hand on hers. “Oh, Alice, I am in quite the predicament. You should understand as you too have a sister.”
Yes, she did have a sister but it was quite silly to compare hers with the red queen. They shared no similarities other than being sisters, older ones at that. Alice did, however, understand that the white queen only meant to stand up for her sibling, after the ill she had done so long ago. “I wish I could give you an answer, your majesty, bit it seems I have none to give. I would suggest Maliumpkin but she is so small, I’m afraid that she wouldn’t be able to stop your sister if something were to go wrong.”
It was a perplexing issue, one that would take several minds to find a solution to. “Perhaps watch her yourself for the time being. Have her by your side until you can find one suitable to watch her.”
@havenotlostmymuchness
“Once again I find you here in my castle. Will you never learn your lesson.”, Time grumbled. “What are you doing here? Come to restore order to yet another Underling? I’m afraid your efforts are in vain. Everyone is mad here. Save for me.”
“No, not at all. I simply came for a visit. I know you requested I not return but, it is one I cannot fulfill.” Alice replied, walking up to the incredibly tall man. Was he a man? At least part of him must be. “Time himself must enjoy company once in a while. Though, if you wish, I can leave.”
“It is about Racie. I do not know if I made the right decision to bring her back. I have been receiving much criticism as of late that I should have her executed as retribution for her crimes.” She sighed. “But you know that is not how I wish to run my Kingdom. People are now thinking me weak for wanting to spare my sister’s life. I know there is no way for her to redeem herself after the terror she has caused but… she is still my sister. What do you think?”
Alice sighed heavily, having had a feeling that the queen would come to her eventually about the subject. It was an issue where the sides weren’t simply black and white. There were extenuating circumstances. Yes, the red queen had done horrible things but, seeing her past, Alice couldn’t exactly reprimand her for being angry. That didn’t make what she did okay, but it was slightly understandable. “Killing her would start more issues than they would fix. A probationary period of some sort would be a good start to a reasonable punishment. Maybe, someday, she’ll be able to atone for the things she’s done. For now though, I suggest certain limitations.”
Ilosovic stared at the girl for a long moment, his brow narrowing as he listened to her. He wasn’t in a sarcastic joking manner anymore; his features showing more seriousness. “I’ll prove it…Just watch. You really do doubt in me huh?” He paused. “So are you giving the same thoughts to Iracebeth? Or is it just me…” His voice had lowered, a slight anger in his voice.
“I do.” Alice replied, “As for the red queen, her sister may forgiver her, trust her, but that doesn’t mean I do. She has much to atone for, lives that were abruptly cut short. I hold no ill will towards her, but my friends have been hurt by her. That is something that will no be easily forgotten.” Not that Alice would mention this to Mirana. The red queen had done too much damage for things to be so quickly patched up. Stanye was the same as her. “Until the day you have redeemed yourself comes, I don’t want to see you.”
Mirana gave her a small grin and began to fidget a bit. She did as she asked and sat down, hopefully to relax somewhat. “I was hoping you would give me some advice. I do not know anyone else I can confide about this in particular.” She let out a small sigh. “I know I tend to be the one to offer it but I’m afraid this time, I have somewhat of a predicament and I was hoping you would help me.”
“I don’t know what advice I could possibly give to you.” Alice began with a shrug of her shoulders. “However, I will help you in any way I can, your majesty.” The blonde sat in nearby chair, smiling at the white queen. “So, what seems to be the problem?”
He spotted her ornate and colorful attire amidst the snow, and he mustered up the strength to chase after her, passing a crowd of curious and concerned onlookers who had witnessed a terrible scene.
Time was catching up with her, and fate truly must have been on his side for the moment, as he watched the girl fall and crash against the ice. He heaved a pained breath, stomping through the cold, and he soon loomed before her, a harsh wind whipping about them.
“You. You have no idea what you’ve done–” His voice was hoarse, bright eyes flickering. “You are reckless, and selfish…I have told you already, you cannot change the past, Alice.” He was in such pain, and it could only get worse if things were not restored. “Give me the Chronosphere now, before it is too late.” His hand extended towards her, trembling fingers waiting expectantly.
The fall had knocked the wind out of her, slowing down the girl’s reaction time. Not that she could get away, the root hurting her ankle in some way. Realization struck her as she noticed that the ground beneath her was not dirt, but ice. Luckily, it didn’t seemed to be cracked, at least for now. She listened to him criticize her, upset slightly by the fact that she couldn’t actually change the past. While the hatter was her main reason for going back, if she could have prevent all the horrible things that a simple fall had caused, Underland would be a much better place. It wasn’t mean to be, so it seemed.
“You’re right.” The blonde agreed sadly, slowly pushing herself up off the ice. Grabbing the gold item from her pocket, Alice made to hand it over before stopping. “The Hightopps are still alive. I will give this to you but, if you have any information on where they are, all I ask is for you to tell me. Tarrant is going to die if we don’t.”
We'll meet again Don't know where, don't know when But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
“I’m fine, thank you.” Mirana gave her a small smile as she glided in. “I’m sorry to visit unannounced. If you are busy, I can leave you be…”
“Oh no, please have a seat, your majesty.” Alice, gestured to a chair for the queen to sit upon. “What is it that you wished to see me about?”
“Well…you have not known me long, dear Alice…” He had said her name rather sharply, a slight amusement in his features. He found it quite entertaining that the girl was trying to be intimidating to him. “You hadn’t even gave me a chance to work any charm. Straight forward rejection, how rude…” He gave a shrug, turning his head to look away from her; almost tilting his head in the air in a snobbish like manner. He wanted to see how far he could push the girl, frustrate her with his presence. It was like a game to him.
“Yes, but you only have one chance to make a first impression. Needless to say, it was not a good.” Alice would not back down, though he was becoming rather irritating. It felt like she was wasting her breath. “As I said, you have not given me reason to let you do so. While I do believe nothing is impossible, this is one that I won’t believe until I see it done. Prove that you can change, become a good man.” She did like to think the best of people, but Stayne just didn’t seem able to live up to his word. “I have things I must see to, If you don’t mind.”
